The Systems Administrator will help manage and support the system infrastructure for Spellman High Voltage’s Mexico facility and Brownsville Warehouse. This role will include monitoring, planning, designing, and implementing systems and hardware including enterprise-class servers. The successful candidate will work with team members to maintain network and system stability, and lead/participate in various projects and initiatives.

This candidate will help develop and execute strategic plans to enhance support across the organization. These plans will focus on improving knowledge, building skills, and strengthening the learning environment within a mid-sized, high-mix multinational engineering and manufacturing company.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first point of escalation for the Helpdesk team on server-related issues. Quickly determines whether issues can be resolved locally or need to be escalated to the Corporate IT team, with a focus on prioritizing problems that impact manufacturing operations.

  • Proactively monitors systems for performance, uptime, and security events, responding swiftly to incidents.

  • Identifies, assesses, and recommends new solutions to meet the unmet needs of IT Leadership, both proactively and upon request.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and create structured project plans.

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of networking architecture, protocols, and core concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs).

  • Manage Active Directory, including cleanup, group policies, user/group administration, and OU-level organization.

  • Apply system patches and updates, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

  • Create backups before and after updates; performs off-hours changes to minimize service impact and execute scheduled upgrades.

  • Responsible for the setup, monitoring, and maintenance of the print server environment.

  • Manage and automate endpoints using Group Policies (GPO), Endpoint Central, Azure, and PowerShell scripts, following IT best practices.

  • Support and maintains VMware environments, including host administration, resource allocation, and virtual machine lifecycle.

  • Maintains detailed documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations.

  • Provides hardware lifecycle support including procurement, upgrades, and decommissioning of IT infrastructure.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to support integrated systems and ensure business continuity.

  • Have a strong understanding of network file sharing, access controls, and security permissions.

Competences / abilities:

  • Must be bi-lingual (Advanced) in both English and Spanish.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills are a must.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Minimum of 4+ years of systems and servers’ administration.

  • Must be able to work in both Mexico and United States.

  • Able to be on-call for emergency situations.

  • Must have a can-do attitude and be a team player.

  • MCSA certification a plus.

  • VMware certification a plus.

  • Azure certification a plus.

  • Windows Server Administration

  • VMWare Administration.

  • Pure Storage Administration.

  • Rubrik System Administration.

  • Microsoft Teams phone system administration.

  • Management of Microsoft Admin center 365
