General Description:
HRL is seeking a systems administrator experienced in Windows or Linux environments. A willingness to continue learning new technologies is a must. Willingness to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance is required.
Essential Duties:
Perform a multi-disciplined range of technical system and application activities
Provide a friendly and professional point of contact for customers
Perform independent troubleshooting of complex incidents
Deliver prompt and professional service and response and timely resolution to requests for services
Install, configure, and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components
Administer Windows and/or Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments
Maintain Windows systems comprised of servers, workstations, and thin clients
Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management
Resolve a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems
Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Active Directory domains
Perform system and user account maintenance
Test and assess security configuration of Windows and Linux servers
Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance
Analyze, test, implement security patches, and systems hardening
Document maintenance & ticketing actions
Develop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
If required, assist in IT security incident response and documentation
Participate in internal & external security audits/inspections
Required Skills:
Minimum 1 year of directly related experience in systems administration, network administration, or cyber security
Demonstrated experience working independently & in a team environment
Experience in platform-specific systems administration (Windows or Linux)
An understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing)
Experience with system monitoring & alerting tools (e.g., Nagios) is preferred
Some experience with Risk Management Framework and working within an accredited system is preferred
An understanding of VMware vSphere virtual environments is preferred
An understanding of multiplatform system hardening (e.g., DISA STIG, SCAP) is preferred
Some experience with scripting for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, BASH) is preferred
Some knowledge of cyber security technology and trends (e.g., Tenable, McAfee, Splunk) is preferred
Experience in multiplatform systems administration (Windows and Linux) is desired
Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 configuration, management, and troubleshooting is preferred
An understanding of Group Policy management is preferred
Some experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8, 9) is preferred
Some experience with High Performance Computing is preferred
Required Education:
High School diploma/GED with 1+ years of experience in a System Administration role
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Special Requirements:
This position is 100% on-site.
Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases, with little to no advance notice.
This job will also require up to 15% travel.
This position requires that the applicant selected be a U.S. citizen.
The applicant must also be willing to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph.
This position requires that the applicant obtain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire.
As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access, which is subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities. Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to additional IT system monitoring and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to Privileged User processes and procedures. Privileged Users are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for security violations.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position $76,530 - $93,320 + bonus + benefits.
