Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Intelligence Systems (IS), seeks a System Administrator (Experienced or Senior) to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA. Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers.
The System Administrator will perform system administration tasks, to include infrastructure administration and automation, information security support and configurations, software and OS installation/updates, and follows configuration/change control processes. The System Administrator will create new solutions to hard technical problems and provide system support using best practices with modern and innovative tooling. The System Administrator will also support the design, validation and configuration management of computing systems, and monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning.
Position Responsibilities:
- Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and performing regular maintenance tasks such as applying updates, patches, and security fixes
- Assist Network Engineers with configuring and managing network services, such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory, to facilitate communication and resource sharing within the network
- Assist with implementing and managing backup strategies to ensure data protection and disaster recovery capabilities in case of system failures or data loss
- Assist with implementing and maintaining security measures, including firewalls, endpoint protection, and access controls, to protect the system from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats
- Analyzing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations to improve overall system efficiency and responsiveness
- Maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps, as well as generating reports on system performance, security, and compliance
- Participating in the planning and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring compatibility and adherence to best practices
- Staying up to date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and security practices, and continuously improving skills and knowledge
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- This position requires an Active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance and current FSP (Full Scope Polygraph) (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
- Level 3: 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience managing and maintaining servers and related infrastructure components
- In-depth knowledge and experience with various versions of Windows and/or Linux Servers, including installation, configuration, and administration, including experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core technology services
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities and able to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 4: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years' experience in System Administration across Windows and/or Linux environments
- Expertise in on-premise virtualization (AHV, VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.) and/or cloud expertise (AWS or Azure)
- Experience with VDI infrastructure, monitoring infrastructure, securing infrastructure
- Experience with documenting technical details in Confluence and task tracking in Jira
- Strong knowledge of security best practices
- Experience with security auditing, vulnerability assessments, and incident response
- Cloud, INFOSEC, and/or any recent IT certifications

Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $102,850.00 - $139,150.00
Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $128,350.00 - $173,650.00
