Job Description

Ubisoft is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator with a strong focus on DevOps and SRE practices to join our IT Games & Studios (ITG&S) team and support our game production infrastructure and TechOps activities that power a microservices-based online architecture. This role is critical to building, automating, and evolving the cloud-native foundation that enables reliable, scalable, and high-performance game services.

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and operating Kubernetes-based environments, developing automated CI/CD pipelines, and implementing observability platforms to ensure system reliability across development, test, and production environments. Working closely with backend developers and production teams, you will play a key role in enabling efficient delivery workflows and driving operational excellence.

The selected candidate combines strong infrastructure expertise with solid automation and scripting capabilities. You should be comfortable working with cloud platforms, Infrastructure-as-Code practices, and modern DevOps toolchains, while maintaining a pragmatic, problem-solving mindset in fast-paced production environments.

You will join a collaborative, cross-functional team composed of technical professionals across multiple disciplines, contributing not only to day-to-day operations but also to long-term initiatives that improve scalability, efficiency, and resilience of our online systems.

Responsibilities

Game Infrastructure Setup

  • Build Kubernetes clusters from scratch to support a microservices-based game architecture, integrating essential components such as networking, storage, and logging.
  • Design, build, and enhance automated deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and ArgoCD, enabling full automation from code commit to release.

Observability Platform Development

  • Set up and maintain end-to-end monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana) across development and test environments.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to implement game-specific business monitoring, not only infrastructure monitoring.

Automation & Efficiency Engineering

  • Manage cloud resources through Infrastructure-as-Code practices using Terraform, ensuring consistency across environments.
  • Develop automation scripts and tools (using Bash, Python, or Go) to enable frictionless and efficient operations for development teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or backend development; hands-on cloud-native project experience is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes, including networking (CNI), storage (CSI), and service discovery mechanisms.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code principles and practical Terraform usage.
  • Knowledge of observability stacks and experience building monitoring systems with Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Bash/PowerShell/Python/Go); able to develop and maintain simple automation services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, ArgoCD, etc.
  • Strong passion for technology, fast learning capability, and solid problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual (Mandarin & English) is a must.

Bonus Skills/Desirable Assets

  • Experience with game development infrastructure or high-concurrency internet backend systems.
  • Familiarity with service meshes such as Istio for microservice governance.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash, capable of quickly delivering automation.
  • Hands-on experience with core services from at least one major cloud provider (Tencent Cloud, AWS, GCP, Alibaba Cloud).
  • Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset toward partnering with development teams
