General Function:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of VOAWW’s IT infrastructure supporting 800+ in-person and remote users across Western Washington. Reporting to the Senior IT Manager, this role manages day-to-day administration of Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra, Cisco Meraki networks, endpoint management, and enterprise systems. The position also supports IT projects, improves processes and documentation, and provides escalation support for technical issues. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, clear communication skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining reliable, well-organized systems.
Principal Activities:
- Administer the Microsoft 365 environment including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID, Copilot, and Purview.
- Manage Azure and Entra cloud services including identity governance, conditional access policies, and cloud security configuration.
- Administer Cisco Meraki network infrastructure across agency locations including switching, wireless access points, and security appliances.
- Manage endpoint lifecycle via Intune: policy configuration, compliance, patching, and MDM.
- Maintain enterprise backup solutions and support restore and disaster recovery processes.
- Monitor system health, investigate alerts, and resolve infrastructure issues proactively.
- Serve as the escalation point for tickets beyond the IT Support Specialists’ scope; take on primary ticket ownership when volume or complexity requires it.
- Lead and support IT projects including system upgrades, rollouts, and configuration improvements.
- Travel to agency locations across Western Washington for on-site network work, equipment deployment, and conference room or AV setup.
- Contribute to and maintain IT documentation including runbooks, system configurations, and SOPs in collaboration with the Senior IT Manager.
- Apply and uphold strong security practices across all systems and configurations.
- Evaluate hardware and software solutions and make recommendations to the Senior IT Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsQualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3 or more years of experience in systems administration or IT infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Entra ID, and Azure.
- Experience managing Cisco Meraki networking equipment.
- Experience with enterprise backup platforms and disaster recovery processes.
- Familiarity with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools and enterprise security practices.
- Experience with IT ticketing systems and supporting end users when needed.
- Strong documentation habits and organizational skills.
- Good communicator who can explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check.
