What we need
System Reliability Test Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and validating Symbotic’s automated robotic systems. The automated robotics system includes Inbound and Outbound Adapter cells, Vertical Lifts, conveyors, and autonomous bots. You will become the system expert of Symbotic’s automation, including repair/replacement of all mechanical, electrical /electronic, and pneumatic sub-systems. Providing excellent service and support to Symbotic’s Commissioning, Testing, and Operations teams.

The System Test Engineer is part of the Operations organization that leads preparation and readiness efforts, tasks, and testing to ensure the successful implementation of the SYM system at our new customer sites. The Customer Site Deployment organization partners cross-functionally and directly with our customers to drive and execute onsite structural and systems deployments, in preparation for final acceptance of the Symbotic system
What you’ll do

Perform inspections on systems associated with Automated Storage and Retrieval System of automated robotic vehicles and Automated Adapters/ Lifts.

Support continuous operation by adjusting, calibrating, repairing, replacing, or modifying system components.

Experience and knowledge with troubleshooting basic PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), running SQL queries, and executing test plans using Test Rail, Jiraira, SharePoint, or other collaboration methods

Effective communication of schedule impacting problems and suggested actions, including approximate time required for corrective and emergency maintenance to required team members.

Responsible for cleanup of equipment and removal of replaced parts from work areas after repairs are completed.

Responsible for minor utility work such as machining holes, brackets; cutting steel; aligning sensors; attaching Unistrut; etc.).

Responsible for troubleshooting, calibration, set up, and tool changes on Robotic arms.

Responsible for continuous cleaning and adhering to 5S policies.

Ensure that the safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and our customers’ processes and procedures are met daily

Assist in training / onboarding of Team members as required.

What you’ll need
-
Associate degree or equivalent experience or certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or equivalent field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance of mechanical systems and experience in electro-mechanical highly preferred.

Basic Excel knowledge and PowerPoint (Microsoft tools) to Importing datasets, basic chart production, running Pivot Tables, applying filters on data.

Basic networking skills, such as an understanding of an IP address, how to find a MAC address, ping addresses, SSH into machines, etc.

Advanced troubleshooting (reading of CAD drawings/maintenance manuals/user manuals/etc.)

Ability to work independently of supervisor following procedures and manuals.

Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and change course based on immediate business needs.
Our Environment

Remote, field-based position

Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

Our headquarters is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning. (Commissioning Team)

The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
-
The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
-
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness)

There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.

You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground

Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
