About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM

Woven by Toyota’s AD/ADAS organization is developing a scalable, data-driven approach to autonomous and assisted driving. Our Product Delivery Team is responsible for assembling, testing, releasing and integrating our software products into the larger Toyota ecosystem.

Team members include experts that integrate and verify our software is functional and performant on production-intent hardware. We have a need for a leader in our Niohombashi office to support this integration and ensure system-level constraints are identified early, actioned by the team, and are included as part of any release candidate for integration. You will be leading a team of seasoned professionals supporting the integration and final release verification and validation of a production-intent software system. Additionally, lead the integration of various hardware platforms to drive early development of our software products and ensure those platforms are sufficiently representative of the target hardware requirements.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a seasoned team leader comfortable in the depth and breadth of integration. Vehicle hardware integration, vehicle software integration, test and delivery to TMC milestones. Experience delivering to production programs is incredibly valuable, and an ability to lead a team in that direction is what is needed. The candidate will need to work x-functionally and across international teams to help lead the effort successfully.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the integration function for Product Delivery (PD). Start by ensuring requirements (provided by AD/ADAS Product org) are driven into the software system design (e.g., end to end latency, timing, appropriate middleware constructs, etc.)
  • Own the technical realization of the requirements: decomposition into implementation, cross-functional engineering internal alignment, and implementation governance
  • Take decomposed customer-level requirements, or conceptual and historical design studies and experiments resulting in the generation of test methods. Support end to end analysis and compliance with new or emerging system level requirements. Feed results back to definition and functional creation teams for adjustments in lower level requirements, implementation, and / or test methods
  • Ensure allocation to hardware resources strategy / budget is in place and appropriate governance mechanisms are effectively executed by the team
  • Support definition and execute the end‑to‑end test strategy – coordinate testing levels, modalities (SIM, Closed Course, On-Road, SIL/HIL), ensuring our test approach aligns with above requirements and that both Performance and Maturity areas sufficiently captured. Ensure software quality is captured and aligned with TMC and other stakeholders, and delivered upon for final production-intended targets
  • Represent PD in cross‑functional and external forums – act as the accountable voice of PD for system level deliverables. Be actively engaged in a number of meetings / forums in Japan and carry that message back to the US based team. Engage the US based team for implementation and plans to effectively support integration into target hardware
  • Support Senior managers for hardware build & integration and ensure their needs are met through appropriate approvals and management of their concerns

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years experience with software systems integration production setting, as an individual contributor or team lead (in combination)
  • Proven ability to launch software systems to production with a demonstrated track record. Point to production program launches - inside or outside of the automotive industry - where your team’s work played a critical role in ensuring the system launched to market with high quality
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, especially with respect to quality-associated deliverables. Showcase how you developed and implemented foundational standard operating procedures leading to higher quality team output
  • Strong communication skills in a global team environment
  • Fluent Japanese (native or near-native) and business-level English

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience launching programs to production
  • Experience with Hardware In the Loop systems
  • Experience with software in the loop testing (Open / Closed SILS)
  • Automotive ADAS Domain experience
