General Purpose:

As a System Engineer your primary responsibility will be to plan, design, implement, and maintain comprehensive enterprise-wide infrastructure policies, strategies, and systems. You will work with minimal guidance, handling varied and often challenging tasks related to server and infrastructure applications across multiple operating systems. Your role will involve installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the technical infrastructure and associated software, while troubleshooting advanced infrastructure performance issues and providing capacity planning solutions. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to System Administrators, ensuring technical problems are resolved effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide infrastructure policies, strategies, and systems, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Demonstrate expertise in complex system administration tasks, resolving technical challenges efficiently and effectively
  • Oversee the organization and operation of the Data Center, ensuring optimal temperature, well-organized materials, and seamless availability
  • Manage the design, development, and installation of new hardware and software components, ensuring compatibility and efficiency
  • Maintain and optimize the technical infrastructure, including operating systems, server backup systems, routine maintenance programs, email systems, and storage area networks
  • Take the lead in disaster recovery design and testing, proactively detecting faults and minimizing disruptions
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Help Desk personnel, Microcomputer Specialists, and System Administrators to address and resolve complex technical issues
  • Act as a technical resource and escalation point for Driscoll Health System's technical infrastructure, staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices
  • Ensure the security of the technical infrastructure, implementing robust measures to safeguard password access, file access, intruder prevention, and protection against viruses and spam
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, departments, organizations, and agencies as necessary to optimize system performance and ensure seamless operations
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs for infrastructure asset management, including maintaining an inventory of components, technical documentation, and specifications
  • Stay current with technological advancements by reading technical journals, attending seminars, workshops, and evaluating new vendor-provided software through rigorous testing in a controlled environment
  • Foster relationships with software, hardware, and communication equipment vendors, attending product demonstrations and coordinating the acquisition and installation of system upgrades
  • Perform additional related tasks as required to contribute to the overall success of the organization

Education and/or Experience:

A combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Microsoft Windows Server OS, Windows 11, 10, including debugging and Sysinternals tools
  • MacOS 11+, iOS, and Android
  • Active Directory, Azure AD (Active Directory), including user and group management, multi-factor authentication, group policy, and conditional access policies
  • Mobile device management (MDM) & Mobile application management (MAM) concepts and policies
  • Virtualization concepts, including virtual desktops, virtual servers, and storage
  • Understanding of networking: TCP/IP, LAN / DMZ / WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching and Firewalls
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting
  • Problem solver with the ability to diagnose and resolve technology issues
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Associate degree and 4+ years supporting an enterprise IT environment or equivalent certifications and IT experience

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Batchelor degree
  • 5+ years of Windows Server OS administration experience 
  • 5+ years of exposure to a hypervisor like VMware
  • 5+ years of experience with MS Azure
  • 2+ years of experience with automated application deployments
  • Azure or AWS cloud environment experience
  • Microsoft Office 365; Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Microsoft SQL
  • VMware technologies such as VMware Horizon View, ESXi, and vSphere
  • Cybersecurity concepts such as vulnerability and risk assessment, security controls, confidentiality, and incident recovery
  • Citrix technologies such as XenApp and NetScaler
  • SCCM and Windows Patch Management experience, including knowledge of the management and application of updates to Windows operating systems
  • Development knowledge in areas such as C#/ASP.NET, Object-oriented programming, MVC, JavaScript and PowerShell
  • Imprivata One Sign administration
  • Data Center Design and Expansion. Experience with high level data center design, operations, basic electrical/mechanical infrastructure, and scaling physical infrastructure
  • Possession of one or more certifications, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, MCSA, MCSE, Citrix Certified Associate, or VMware Certified Associate
