About the Role
The Solution Architect / System Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing the technical blueprint for complex automotive software and systems, ensuring they align with Harman business needs along with focus on Customer specification and technical feasibility. They bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, guiding teams in the design, development, and integration of software and hardware components. Customer Requirements and System Requirements management are key project technical focal points to product stakeholders both internal and external to Harman. This position requires a broad background in automotive infotainment, cluster, digital cockpit and ADAS systems, as well as deep knowledge in one or more relevant product domains. This position is able to evaluate tradeoffs, resolve issues, and achieve technical solutions that meet stakeholder requirements. The ideal profile must be able to communicate effectively and document the resulting product requirements and serve as the technical interface for assigned program(s)/domain(s).
What You Will Do
- System Design and Architecture: Developing and maintaining the system architecture, ensuring it aligns with requirements and best practices.
- Validation and Testing: Defining and executing validation plans, ensuring the system meets performance, safety, and quality standards.
- Integration and Testing: Integrating different system components and ensuring their proper functioning within the broader vehicle system.
- Requirements Management: Identifying and translating customer needs and stakeholder requirements into system-level specifications.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise during development and testing.
- Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with various teams (hardware, software, mechanical) and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Standardization and Innovation: Contributing to the standardization of central computer systems and fostering innovative solutions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate documentation of the system design, validation results, and problem-solving activities.
Specific Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of Central Compute Unit (CCU) technologies and their applications in automotive systems.
- Experience with system engineering processes, including requirements management, system design, validation, and integration.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations for automotive safety and performance.
- Proficiency in tools for system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in an agile development environment is a plus.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., electrical, mechanical, computer science) is typically required.

What You Need
- In-depth knowledge of software and system architecture, embedded systems, vehicle EE architecture, and communication protocols
- Experience with Automotive Systems Engineering including System Modelling Language 1.5
- Experience with infotainment systems, ADAS systems, or other automotive software and hardware components
- Expert knowledge of requirements management
- Good knowledge of embedded software and system
- Knowledge of Requirements Management Tool “Doors Next Generation”, “DOORS”, Doors exchange mechanism, IBM jazz tool chain (DNG, RTC), SystemWeaver etc.
- Configuration management rules and tools especially IBM ELM/DNG baselining
- Knowledge of process models (e.g. Automotive SPICE®, Functional Safety & Cybersecurity)
- Advanced knowledge on Machine Learning SW and HW architectures and Mobile Wireless Technology (DSPs, ARM, Memories, Multicore processing, WiFi, 5G, 4G/LTE, 3G, CDMA, 2G, Bluetooth) and/or Infotainment Technology such as Navigation system, Digital TV, ETC system, Drive recorder, Mirroring / Projection systems such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and rear seat entertainment
- Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business.
- Fluent communication skills in English and Japanese
