We currently have a vacancy for a System Engineer (VMware) fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Valletta, Malta. The work will be carried out either in the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.
Tasks:
- Implement periodic firmware and software upgrades services of client’s VMware Virtual Server Infrastructure in Malta, France, Italy, Greece and Cyprus to latest versions of all compatible ESXi hosts, vCenter appliances and vRealize Operations Manager appliance;
- Monitor infrastructure performance in post-implementation phases;
- Maintain backup policies, monitor backup jobs and assist in planning and documenting Disaster Recovery RTOs (Recovery Time Objective) and RPOs (Recovery Point Objective);
- Assist on moving the workloads to the servers in all client’s datacentres;
- Provision of virtual machines and storage;
- Implement current firmware and upgrades for critical Dell and NetApp storage controller infrastructure;
- Monitor array performance in post-implementation phase and assist on the maintenance and upgrade of the fibre channel networking;
- Identify hardware, software and network problems and propose recovery solutions;
- Perform regular maintenance on hardware, network, and software components;
- Maintain an accurate enterprise configuration management;
- Maintain security and functionality through application of approved software patches.
- University degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with a minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in IT;
- Experience working with VMware vCenter, vRealize, ESXi;
- Experience working with SAN (Netapp and/or Dell/EMC);
- Experience working with Server management, Operating System (OS) knowledge (Linux, Windows) and administration of Backup & Storage systems;
- Experience with replication & Disaster recovery;
- Understanding of common network topologies as well as common cabling technologies and standards (fibre/copper, Ethernet);
- Knowledge of ITIL/ITIL V4 concepts and scripting languages;
- Virtual servers: VMware training and/or certification;
- Knowledge of Veeam products and Keepit would be an asset;
- Excellent command of the English language.
