System Applications Engineering at ADI

We are looking for enthusiastic and talented engineers of varying experience levels and varying hardware and software skillsets to join our BMS Applications Team in Ismaning near Munich. Being part of this team is an exciting opportunity to help bring state of the art battery monitoring and protection systems to market in electric vehicles and other energy storage systems worldwide. A BMS system solution consists of ADI integrated circuits, system hardware, software and algorithms, (RF-)networking, functional safety and more. Application engineers sit in a unique position working both on product development as well as with the customer application. This gives great personal growth opportunities in both technical and business areas. Those who enjoy complex systems, working closely with customers, are versatile, or have broad interests may especially like application engineering regardless of their experience level. Job activities can include

  • Create reference hardware designs for our ICs (schematic, PCB design, integration);
  • Debug faulty systems and articulate root cause analysis;
  • Understand complex automotive OEM and Tier1 application ecosystems and support the integration of ADI products for our worldwide customers;
  • Work closely with other teams to understand customer needs and drive new product requirements;
  • Write application notes, design guides and articles to share knowledge;
  • Test and validate the applications using our ICs, including creating the testing strategy and writing PC or embedded code to control the test equipment;
  • Analyze, model and simulate system operation;
  • Develop proof-of-concept demos, system prototypes and software tools to enable software integration and evaluation of BMS products in customers’ systems.
  • System engineering and automotive safety (FuSa) driven system design;
  • Writing design documentation;
  • EMC testing and modeling;
  • Thermal and mechanical design work;
  • Printed Circuit Board design and mechanical integration.

Candidate Attributes

  • MSc degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent;

Soft skills:

  • Eager to learn;
  • Enthusiasm for helping customers and colleagues;
  • Able to operate autonomously, show initiative and find your way in a big organization;

Technical skills:

  • Developing and analyzing mixed-signal electronic circuits;
  • Operating general-purpose lab equipment for testing and debugging;
  • Working knowledge of python;
  • Comfortable working with embedded system hardware;
  • Automation and programming skills for hardware or instrument control;
