The Automotive Electrification and Sustainable Energy BU's purpose is to engineer a decarbonized, cleaner, and a more sustainable electrified future. With the accelerated on-boarding of renewable power generation sources over the next 20 years, there is a simultaneous requirement to stabilize the energy grid with the rapid addition of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). In recognition of this fast-accelerating opportunity, the Sustainable Energy BU has created a new group focused specifically on delivering products and solutions to the BESS market.
To build out the BESS team, the Sustainable Energy BU is looking to fill several important positions with people who will be key to the success of this new group.
The Role
The Sustainable Energy BU has identified the need for a highly motivated and experienced Systems Engineer to define and shape state-of-the-art products and solutions for the energy storage systems of the future. This is an exciting leadership role with high visibility where the Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the architectural design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge products and system solutions comprising of multiple hardware components and software layers. Battery management will be a core system competency.
Requirements
Strong candidates will have the following attributes, experience, and qualifications:
· Minimum BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering; MSEE or MSCE and 10+ years of experience preferred.
· Domain expertise (7 years+) in Battery Management Systems - experience in architecting and designing battery management systems for automotive or energy storage applications.
· Experience with articulating and presenting concepts to customers and probing to understand their true needs. Intrinsic motivation to travel and engage with customers is a highly desired attribute of the successful candidate.
· Experience leading or supporting the system architecture for integrated circuit products or system solutions comprising of multiple ICs and software.
· Familiarity with BMS system architectures and trends, preferably in a BESS context.
· Requirement’s definition and management (traceability, disaggregation) and associated tools like Jama or Doors.
· Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and clearly articulate technical issues to peers, management and customers and solve problems cross-functionally.
· Strong verbal and written English communication skills to work effectively with teams spread geographically.
Nice to have:
· Experience managing others.
· Familiarity with sysML and tools like Enterprise Architect
· Experience with APSICE or other software and product development processes
· Familiarity with Functional Safety ISO26262 and IEC61508
· System modeling experience in MATLAB or similar tools
· Experience at an Automotive or BESS OEM or T1.
