System and Data Analyst - 12 months contract

About the Role

Are you passionate about turning raw data into actionable gold, experimenting with Large Language Models (LLMs), and making technology actually fun for people to learn?

We are looking for a dynamic System and Data Analyst to partner with our European Operations organization on our journey through Digitalization and Industry 4.0. In this role, you won't just build dashboards and data pipelines—you will be an innovation catalyst. You will help design a secure, agile framework for historical, operational, and predictive insights, while actively exploring cutting-edge AI and LLM use cases to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.

Just as importantly, you will be the bridge between complex tech and our people. You will lead the charge in democratizing data by designing interactive, engaging, and enjoyable training programs that upskill our workforce and spark a true self-service analytics culture.

This role can be based out of any European country with an Avery Dennison location.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analytics & LLM Innovation

• Drive Strategic Analytics: Partner with European site leaders to turn complex operational bottlenecks into data-driven improvement projects, utilizing historical, real-time, and predictive analytics.

• Pioneer LLM & GenAI Use Cases: Identify, prototype, and deploy Large Language Model solutions to optimize business processes (e.g., automating standard reporting, querying maintenance logs, summarizing unstructured operational data, or building internal productivity copilots).

• Modernize & Digitalize: Transform manual MDI (Managing Daily Improvement) processes into robust, standardized digital workflows, building prototypes that scale into enterprise IT solutions.

• Bridge Business & IT: Act as the technical translator, converting business needs and process improvement ideas into clear, high-performing IT specifications and data architectures.

Culture, Community & "Fun" Learning

• Make Learning Engaging: Design and deliver vibrant, gamified, and highly interactive training sessions on our Business Intelligence toolset and AI capabilities—making complex topics accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for adult learners of all technical backgrounds.

• Foster a Self-Service Mindset: Empower users to take ownership of their data by hosting hackathons, "lunch and learns," and interactive workshops that build confidence and curiosity.

• Build a Knowledge Hub: Develop and facilitate a collaborative platform for key users across Europe to share best practices, celebrate data wins, and synchronize digital skills across the organization.

• Be the Analytics Ambassador: Serve as the go-to subject matter expert with a "helicopter view" of both local site needs and central business intelligence strategies.

Experience & Technical Skills

• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, ideally within a manufacturing, supply chain, or operations environment.

• Data Visualization Mastery: Proven track record building intuitive dashboards using modern BI tools (ideally IBM Cognos Analytics, ORACLE Analytics, PowerBI, or Tableau).

• Programming, App Development & Toolset: Strong proficiency in Google Workspace (G-Suite), including hands-on experience with Google AppSheet for low-code/no-code mobile app development and workflow creation. Experience with Python (preferred for AI/LLM work), R, Java, or Google Apps Script is a major plus. 

• AI & LLM Curiosity: Practical understanding of how to apply Generative AI, prompt engineering, or LLM APIs to solve everyday business problems.

• Process Excellence: Solid foundation in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly desirable).

Mindset & Interpersonal Skills

• The Educator's Spark: A genuine passion for teaching, mentoring, and facilitating workshops, with the empathy and humor needed to make adult upskilling fun and frictionless.

• Change Leader: Innovative thinker with strong project management skills and the ability to influence, motivate, and guide teams through digital transformation.

• Multi-Tasker: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across different sites and stakeholders without losing attention to detail.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (mandatory). Fluency in French or German is a distinct advantage.

• Mobility: Willingness to travel periodically to European sites to connect with teams and deliver hands-on workshops.

Education

• University degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
