Overview

Syntax Specialists work directly with property managers to audit utility accounts to identify which accounts qualify for sales tax exemptions. Syntax Specialists also work with utility providers and various state departments of revenue to reclassify the utility accounts to make them sales tax exempt and recover a refund for the previously charged sales tax.  Responsibilities
  • Audit bills for sales tax
  • Prepare necessary documentation and forms, and obtain signatures from the client
  • Submit necessary forms to utility providers to reclassify utility accounts as tax-exempt
  • Recover a potential refund from the utility provider or the state department of revenue
  • Manage a pipeline of multiple clients
  • 30-35% of the day is spent on the phone
