Job Description:
The Hospital Switchboard Operator serves as the first point of contact for incoming calls to the hospital. This role is responsible for efficiently managing telephone communications, directing calls to appropriate departments or personnel, and handling emergency communication protocols. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, highly organized, and possesses excellent communication skills.This is a PRN position
- Answers incoming switchboard calls in the order they're received.
- Assists caller: answers questions, gives directions, transfers call or pages.
- Answers the hospital emergency line, monitors Nurse Call and dispatches all emergencies.
- Monitors and dispatches hospital facilities alarms.
- Performs Resource Specialist duties (after-hours answering and contacting on-call providers,
- after-hours triage, after-hours medical records requests, after-hours appointment scheduling).
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to type 40 wpm
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment with minimal face-to-face interaction.
- Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position
