SW Staff Engineer

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

What you will be responsible for and what you will do

  • Take full ownership of requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, and deployment of integration services.
  • Manage end-to-end delivery life cycle including production readiness, monitoring, and support.
  • Ensure that features and services delivered by the team meet performance, reliability, and security expectations.
  • Design and develop Admin platform features using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and ensure solutions follow best practices for scalability and maintainability
  • Collaborate with product, security, and engineering teams to deliver seamless, secure experiences
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards for financial services • Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive best practices in secure identity management

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 12+ years in the technology industry, software engineering experience with strong expertise in Java Spring and springboot , APIs design.
  • 3+ years in technical leadership, working with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design etc.).
  • Experience designing and implementing Micro-service architecture.
  • Deep experience designing scalable, distributed systems with high availability and performance
  • Experience articulating NFRs and architecting the solution to meet them in conjunction with business/product and engineering teams

Required Skills

  • Extensive Java (JDK 17+)
  • Spring & SpringBoot
  • Reactive programming with Reactor/WebFlux
  • API design with REST/HTTP on Open API 3.x
  • API Security with OAuth 2.0 (May be arguable if required vs nice to have)
  • Docker & Kubernetes
  • Automated Testing: JUnit & Mockito
  • Cloud: GCP (GKE, IAM, observability) (AWS/Azure a plus)

Hands-on experience with:

  • Technologies: Java EE, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Reactor/WebFlux
  • Databases: Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL
  • Tools: Git, IntelliJ IDEA, Jira
  • Cloud Platforms: GCP, AWS

Nice to Have Skills

  • Domain Specific Language design (this is going to be challenging with anything short of PhD - expecting REAL language design not one course or two in university. waffling between required and nice to have)
  • JavaScript/TypeScript/React for UI (required by at least someone - may be grade 13, then someone hired should be skilled)
  • Redis
  • Cassandra
  • AI assisted development (Cursor or VS Code with Copilot - Skills/Rules/MCP.etc)
  • Git / Github Source Control
  • Maven
  • Familiarity with Pub/Sub and Dataflow concepts
  • Exposure to front-end technologies such as React or mobile/native development
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor)
