AppsFlyer is known for its massive backend production. At any given moment thousands of servers are consuming 200+ billion mobile app events daily, crunching our users’ data, serving requests, and communicating on a massive scale. To achieve such scale, our data & microservice architecture is built with the best and latest cutting-edge technologies such as Node.js, Go, Kafka, GraphQL, Neo4j, Redis, BigQuery, AWS, and many more…
The SaasLab group is part of the AFOS (AppsFlyer Operating System) unit which owns the SaaS platform and control plane of AppsFlyer — the foundational layer that manages users, accounts, billing, API gateway, authentication, permissions, and business integrations. SaasLab’s systems serve as the backbone for every product and feature at AppsFlyer, handling millions of API calls daily and supporting thousands of enterprise customers worldwide.
We are looking for an R&D Group Lead to take ownership of the SaasLab group — leading multiple engineering teams responsible for the core platform services that every AppsFlyer product depends on. You will drive the technical vision and execution or architectural transformation while ensuring the reliability and scalability of AppsFlyer’s SaaS foundation.
The position requires a strong architectural mindset, experience leading platform and infrastructure-level work, and the ability to balance long-term technical strategy with continuous delivery of business value.
What you’ll do- Lead and mentor a group of engineers and team leads across multiple domains (core entities, access & API gateway, billing & integrations), fostering growth in design, architecture, and people leadership
- Own the SaaS platform end to end — ensuring high availability, security, and operational excellence of the systems that underpin every AppsFlyer product
- Drive and execute an architectural transformation: decoupling from legacy data stores, building a resilient domain model, and adopting modern patterns like GraphQL Federation
- Work closely with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders, taking accountability for group deliveries and ensuring teams ship on time with excellent quality
- Lead technical initiatives, processes, methodologies, and architectural decisions across the group
- Drive AI Products development, SDLC and process improvements via cutting edge tools and methodologies
- Be a meaningful and major member of AFOS leadership team and influence the unit’s engineering vision, processes, and culture
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience
- 10+ years of development and design experience
- Deep experience with SaaS platform systems — identity, access management, billing, multi-tenancy, API gateways, or similar control-plane domains
- Experience working with high-scale, distributed cloud-based architectures
- Strong architectural thinking, with a track record of leading complex migrations or modernization initiatives
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills to work successfully with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders
- Proven track record of hiring and managing high-performing engineering teams
- Experience being a part of strong leadership teams, with excellent collaboration skills and a team-player approach
- High motivation, can-do attitude, and multi-tasking ability
- B.Sc. in computer science or equivalent experience
- Experience managing engineering managers
- Experience with Node.js, GraphQL, or graph databases (Neo4j)
- Experience with platform/infrastructure teams that serve internal engineering customers
- Experience in the ad-tech ecosystem, preferably with hyper-scale systems
- Being introduced by an AppsFlyer employee
