Visa’s Technology Organization is a community of problem solvers and innovators reshaping the future of commerce. We operate the world’s most sophisticated processing networks capable of handling more than 65k secure transactions a second across 80M merchants, 15k Financial Institutions, and billions of everyday people. While working with us you’ll get to work on complex distributed systems and solve massive scale problems centered on new payment flows, business and data solutions, cyber security, and B2C platforms.     

We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale.  As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions. 

The Work itself: 

  • Engage with product, architects, developers, QA, Project management, Operations & Infrastructure teams from the start of the SDLC phase.
  • Become subject matter expert for the assigned products.
  • Identify and setup the necessary monitoring and alerting in production for faster detection of problems.
  • Understanding the end-to-end product architecture of the assigned product.
  • Performing proactive analysis of products by gathering and analyzing metrics. As a result, identify product improvements and collaborate with teams for corrections.
  • Setting up the application code and performing code bug fixes in production.
  • Contribute towards reducing the operational toil through tools and automation for operational efficiency.
  • Provide Level 3 on-call support (within working hours only)
  • Engage with tech and non-tech partners on regular basis to analyze functional and technical solutions.
  • Understanding new changes in production systems and assessing its risk from application perspective for driving reliability and availability
  • Be a continuous learner and developing the technical expertise in application and infra technologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge and asks questions about project requirements.
  • Reviews and asks questions about solution strategies that improve the design and functionality of a product feature.
  • Works under close guidance from others to perform the code bug fixes and deliver low-medium product features.
  • Identifies and sets up holistic application observability
  • Focuses on identifying and automating repeated workflows or tasks to reduce the burden of toil
  • Supports & document the incident triaging and helping drive the RCA

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on Java Backend & NoSQL DB development knowledge
  • Knowledge on Kafka & Containers infrastructure
  • Understanding of OS, storage and basic networks
