Job Overview:
This is a replacement position to join one of the largest independent broker-dealers as Head of Middleware Engineering and Delivery. The SVP, Middleware engineering, and delivery will work directly for the CTO and Head of Infrastructure and operations. This role will also be a key contributor to driving the broader Middleware architecture and strategy to support the Firm’s key initiatives such as Data Center application Migration, Application Modernization, and Cloud adoption
Responsibilities
As Head of Middleware platform engineering and delivery for LPL Technology, you will be entrusted with a range of critical responsibilities that are pivotal to our mission and our strategic outcomes.

Architectural Visionary: Develop and lead a comprehensive roadmap for transforming LPL Financials’ Middleware infrastructure, with a focus on execution and engineering delivery excellence. Your vision will encompass enhancing our Middleware architecture and design to enhance/build and maintain the infrastructure that excels in performance at high volume, security, and scalability, ensuring the resiliency and continuous availability of our services.

Transformation Leader: Spearheaded complex, enterprise-wide transformation projects with a strategic and results-oriented approach, ensuring our network architecture remains at the industry's cutting edge and can evolve with our business needs.

Strategic Collaborator: Work closely with SVPs of Application delivery teams, Chief architect and application architects, Production support teams, and product, and business-aligned technology leaders to align our strategic vision with the architectural roadmap, translating advisor/client needs into groundbreaking technical solutions including self-service capabilities across these platforms enabling LPL’s developer community to rapidly onboard, innovate, and deliver new features and value to our customers.

Technical Mentor and Guide: Serve as an industry expert for enterprise middleware technology, and standards while providing architectural and strategic consulting in the areas of external trends, best practices, and adherence to standards. Inspire and lead a team of talented middleware engineers and architects, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

Technology Evaluation and Adoption: Develop a strategy and roadmap for integrating these platforms into a common management approach using DevSecOps and infrastructure-as-code pipelines and principles. Protect customer experience through capabilities that detect and restore system issues as quickly as possible (through telemetry, monitoring, alerting, and both automated and manual recovery).

Customer Focus: Intense focus on both functional and non-functional quality of all platforms – delighting customers with always-on, high-performing systems that can scale with the company’s growth. Establish feedback loops that ensure continuous improvement and prioritization of the highest-value customer needs.
Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles that span across architecture, application development, and engineering preferably within a financial service or related FinTech firm.

Minimum of 10 years in application engineering and management involving Middleware technologies, including a mix of cloud and on-premises experience.

Minimum of 10 years delivering and operating in an Agile model where dependency management and priority trade-off conversations are key to successful execution.

Knowledge of Cloud technologies and architecture.

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience within the financial sector, especially in wealth management, securities, and trading, is preferred.
Pay Range:
$206,500.00 - $344,100.00
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
