Role Summary/Purpose:

The Senior Vice President, HR  - Credit, Finance and Risk will serve as a key advisor to executive  leadership, aligning HR strategy with business goals to drive performance, innovation, and culture across the function. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the financial services industry and the people dynamics that power high-performing global teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to the Chief Credit Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk and Legal Officer and their leadership teams.
  • Translate business strategies into actionable HR initiatives that drive growth, efficiency, and employee engagement.
  • Lead workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategies to support digital transformation and operational excellence.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) on key programs including talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, and learning & development.
  • Provide leadership coaching and guidance on organizational change, team effectiveness, and leadership development.
  • Strong focus on building the talent bench strength, including internal development, external pipeline engagement and overall succession planning.
  • Champion culture, values, and employee experience across global technology and operations teams.
  • Monitor organizational health metrics and partner on initiatives to improve retention, engagement, and performance.
  • Lead and develop a strong HR team to ensure effective HR /business partnerships, employee advocacy and service delivery.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues with a focus on risk mitigation and legal compliance.
  • Act as a change agent to ensure smooth implementation of organizational transformations, system integrations, and M&A activity within supported areas.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HRBP role supporting large teams.
  • Experience in a complex, matrixed, global financial services organization preferred.
  • Proven success partnering with senior executives to shape talent strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and ability to influence through data.
  • Expertise in organizational design, talent management, and change leadership.
  • Executive presence, strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of the organization, and ability to operate in high-pressure environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required; Master’s or MBA preferred or relevant experience.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level: 15

The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual.  This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.  

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

We’re proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events. 


*Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
