The Role

Job Description:

As the SVP, Audience Science which includes Competitive intelligence, you will lead the advancement of our client’s audience-first marketing strategy by championing a people-based, data-driven approach. You will leverage proprietary tools, custom and in‑market research, and advanced data modeling to define, size, and activate high‑value audiences. 

You will partner closely with clients, strategy, media, and activation teams to bring an audience vision to life that fuels smarter planning, sharper insights, and stronger business outcomes. This role requires a leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, can navigate ambiguity, and can influence across diverse stakeholder groups. 

You will also oversee the competitive intelligence practice—ensuring real-time insights, marketplace monitoring, and strategic competitive guidance are embedded into both long-term planning and day-to-day decision making. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Audience Science Leadership 

  • Establish the audience POV for all markets, including methodologies, definitions, and sizing frameworks. 

  • Identify and evaluate tools, data partners, and new technology solutions to elevate our audience capabilities. 

  • Ensure audience recommendations directly enable successful media planning, optimization, and activation. 

  • Create contingency (Plan B) approaches that keep audience workstreams moving despite data, timeline, or operational barriers. 

  • Lead continuous, proactive exploration of new audience opportunities, trends, and datasets—translating findings into actionable client recommendations. 

  • Oversee ingestion and alignment of audience data into identity systems, audience platforms, and measurement environments. 

  • Ensure strategic and measurable integration of 1P, 2P, and 3P data sources, including governance and quality controls. 

 

Competitive Intelligence 

  • Serve as a trusted thought leader for clients and internal teams on competitive trends, marketplace shifts, and industry dynamics. 

  • Lead and develop a team of competitive specialists who seamlessly integrate insights into planning, investment, and real-time optimization. 

  • Drive innovation and automation initiatives to accelerate speed-to-insight and streamline competitive reporting. 

  • Proactively identify and deliver tailored competitive insights, custom analyses, and leadership-level communications. 

  • Translate broader dentsu thought leadership into client-specific implications and opportunities. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science or related quantitative field

  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, audience strategy, research, or data-driven marketing. 

  • Strong understanding of media planning and activation across channels. 

  • Demonstrated portfolio of work that spans business intelligence, consumer insights, and audience/target engineering. 

  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence cross-functional teams, and serve as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders. 

  • Deep command of syndicated tools and priority platforms supporting competitive analysis, audience planning, and insights. 

  • Expertise in ID-based marketing, identity resolution, and multi-source audience data strategies. 

 

The annual base salary range for this position is $217,500 -$250,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.  Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.
