KBR is seeking a Sustainment Systems Specialist to support a Space Systems Command (SSC) Program Management Office (PMO) located at Peterson Space Force Base (PSFB), CO. We conduct Operations & Sustainment (O&S) activities for state-of-the-art Military and Commercial Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) systems, providing global secure, survivable and protected communications for our Nation’s warfighters.

We are looking for an experienced, proactive Sustainment Systems Specialist who is a self-starter capable of autonomous, on-the-job, learning/growth while working in a collaborative environment of small teams. The ideal candidate will employ their skills and experience to tackle technical challenges and drive executable solutions for legacy and transitioning strategic and tactical space-based telecommunication capabilities. This opportunity is an engineering management position where the ideal candidate will not only have the required technical acumen, but also the ability to proactively engage and effectively manage technical baselines using established/proven government systems engineering, integration & test (SEIT) processes and procedures to advance O&S activities for legacy and transitioning capabilities employed in the field. Join our high-functioning, high-performing MSEIT Sustainment Integrated Product Team (IPT) and be an important part of directly and positively affecting Joint and Allied combat readiness as they employ MILSATCOM and NC3 space systems, terminals and software applications worldwide during full spectrum military operations.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Engage both government and corporate stakeholders to effectively produce outstanding results

• Provide senior-level critical thinking and problem solving skills to the government customer; drive technical challenges to their most logical resolution

• Coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoW agencies to commercial industry that translate to tangible, positive, mission-focused results

• Learn and apply established government SEIT processes and procedures in support of MILSATCOM and NC3 O&S activities

• Develop, analyze and maintain systems engineering documentation and capability requirements to ensure alignment with mission objectives and continuous readiness

• Apply Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) frameworks and DoW acquisition best practices to daily program office operations, directly advancing strategic and tactical MILSATCOM space systems

• Travel:  Up to 20% to CONUS and OCONUS locations upon government customer direction

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active DoW SECRET clearance required to be considered for this position
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience working with military or DoD civilian clients and managing professional relationships
  • 4+ years of experience working in a highly competitive multi-contractor environment
  • 5+ years of experience in architecture/requirements definition/analysis, acquisitions, engineering/design, fielding/integration, and verification or analysis
  • 4+ years of relevant systems engineering experience
  • 4+ years of relevant systems integration experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience engaging government customers to advance projects and initiatives at varying degrees of complexity through engineering management
  • Must be able to demonstrate engineering principles and concepts
  • Expertise with requirements development and analysis, and the development of systems engineering-related documents including requirements/specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; able to sort through complex issues and develop clear solutions, provide in-depth technical assessments and identify issues and risks
  • Effective interpersonal and team player skills in order to engage at both the peer and management levels
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoD agencies to commercial industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills; able to clearly articulate ideas, recommendations and options to the customer
  • Highly-organized individual, capable of handling multiple competing priorities; able to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a dynamic environment

Preferred:

  •  6+ years of experience in a DoW program office with an understanding of DoW acquisition processes
  • 6+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systems
  • Experience working in a CMMI environment
  • Knowledge of Digital Engineering (DE) or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) applications (e.g., SparxEA, Cameo, etc)
  • Possess knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (e.g., Jira/Confluence)
  • Direct experience with Change Management and Configuration Management (CM) processes
  • Current International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certification (i.e. ASEP, CSEP)
  • Possess Project Management Institute (PMI) Program Management Professional (PMP) certification

This position is 100% onsite at Peterson Space Force Base's (PSFB), Product Support Facility (PSF) given mission requirements and is not eligible for formal hybrid or full remote employment options.

Basic Compensation: $110,000-$138,000 in Colorado Springs

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
