Job DescriptionThe Role:
We are looking for a motivated & experienced Sustainability Partner to join the team here at ASOS. This person needs to be a proven team player who would welcome building & maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams at ASOS as well as external stakeholders. The role reports into the Head of Sustainability. We are looking for a self-motivator who takes ownership of their responsibilities & fully supports companywide KPI’s, driving Fashion with Integrity, profit & business growth.
You will lead ASOS’ approach to emerging sustainability legislation and compliance requirements, helping the business understand, prepare for and implement key developments such as ESPR, Digital Product Passports and green claims requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate legislation into practical business processes, tools and ways of working. You will also be driving sustainability & circularity engagement across ASOS product development teams, supporting increased uptake of more sustainable materials as well as managing and embedding circular design across selected teams.
Flexible working options are available, with the role offered either full-time or across four days per week.
What you’ll be doing…
- Lead and support ASOS’ readiness for sustainability legislation and product related compliance requirements, including monitoring regulatory developments and helping shape internal responses to areas such as ESPR, Digital Product Passports, green claims and other relevant ESG/product legislation.
- Translate legislative and compliance requirements into practical actions, policies, processes, guidance and tools for relevant ASOS teams and suppliers, ensuring robust implementation across ASOS own brand product and relevant third party activity.
- Lead on implementation and performance monitoring of circular business models, including resale/takeback and repair.
- Partner closely with buying, design, merchandising, garment technology, fabric sourcing, technical and chemical compliance teams to embed sustainability requirements into product strategies and category decision making.
- Work alongside product teams to support increased uptake of more sustainable materials, helping identify opportunities, remove barriers and track progress in line with ASOS sustainability priorities.
- Support the development and delivery of sustainability due diligence processes and best practices that help commercial teams and supply chain partners meet evolving legal and business requirements.
- Maintain and embed circular design activity across a number of product teams as a business-as-usual workstream, supporting consistent delivery of internal tools, guidance and ways of working.
- Develop and monitor relevant KPIs and reporting measures to track progress on legislative readiness, sustainability implementation, sustainable materials uptake and selected circular design activity.
- Create and deliver training and guidance to commercial teams and key suppliers on sustainability legislation, compliance expectations, sustainable materials and relevant circular design requirements.
- Work closely with suppliers and external partners to support implementation of sustainability requirements, policies and product related expectations where needed.
- Act as a sustainability representative for ASOS, sharing insights internally and externally where appropriate, and helping the business stay connected to wider industry and regulatory developments.
- To manage relationships and projects with our circular fashion partners.
- Support the Sustainability team and Data Partner as required on external reporting needs where needed for ASOS Plc website, annual CR Report, NGO’s activities.
- Be the Sustainability Team point of contact for selected sustainable product marketing stories/campaigns, reviewing and approving marketing copy and coordinating with relevant teams as needed, particularly where environmental claims and substantiation are relevant.
- Must be highly confident, persuasive & clear to deliver presentations to large team groups and engage senior leadership team.
