ISS STOXX ESG is looking for Sustainability Bond Rating Analysts to join their Traditional Research team in Mumbai

Overview:

ISS STOXX ESG Research, a division of ISS STOXX, provides a wide range of market-leading research, ratings, and screening solutions for investors to develop policies, practices, and engagement criteria for their portfolio holdings. The Integrated Solutions division is organized around four main investment vehicles: Traditional Research, Sovereign Research, Alternative Investment Research, and Thematic Research.

The Traditional Research team is responsible for the Sustainability Bond Rating (SBR) solution, providing a bond-issuance specific rating for the labelled debt universe, that incorporates a comprehensive methodology, featuring over 150 datapoints per bond, touching on both regulatory and climate. The SBR solution enables ISS STOXX to position itself as a leading voice in the Fixed Income ESG space.

The Sustainability Bond Rating (SBR) Analyst role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of a strong team in a growing part of the financial industry. Sustainable bond issuance topped more than a trillion dollars in 2023, bolstered by record levels of green bond issuance. The analyst will be responsible for actively supporting the production of all Sustainability Bond Ratings. The role will have active involvement with quality management and process enhancement, to independently assess ESG-related Fixed Income data. The core areas of SBR research will cover Environmental & Social (E&S) Risks and mapping of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The job will also require close interaction with other analysts and internal stakeholders (Integrated Solutions, Methodology, Product, and Data Governance). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, will be needed in this fast-paced environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Actively supporting the production of all Sustainability Bond Ratings, with a strong focus on quality management and process enhancement.

  • Environmental & Social issuance risk assessment.

  • Mapping the use of proceeds to SDG’s.   

  • Independently assessing ESG-related Fixed Income data.

  • Opportunity to contribute to methodology enhancements, in consultation with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Sustainability, with a high level of curiosity in ESG topics.

  • 1-2 years of prior work experience in Green Bonds, ESG ratings, sustainability, investment research, or data science.

  • Strong interest and/or prior experience in fixed income, financial markets, sustainability, or sustainable investment.

  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills, critical thinking, and excellent attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using MS Office.
