The Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a dynamic SURTASS Technical Advisor for SURTASS program in Virginia Beach, VA. The candidate will be responsible participating in the planning, execution and reporting of new equipment installations and existing SURTASS system upgrades to include communications, array processing, navigation and ADNS/INC III network systems.
This position is predominantly an independent position that requires the candidate to work with no supervision, lead technical repair activities on site or remotely, oversee the installation and upgrades of SURTASS electronics systems, and may be assigned as government representative to direct and approve shipboard installations conducted by other system engineers. The candidate will be an onsite manager directing ship’s crew and coordinating port services including cranes, transportation, and other activities to support ship’s Mission Readiness Availability and Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR/MRA) between operational missions at sea.
Duties include shipboard support for PMS485 systems and requirements, co-ordination of the assigned workforce in assigned duties. Review of all incoming and outgoing emails, formal military message traffic and other correspondence. Responsible for ensuring all technical problems are resolved or requests for technical support transmitted to the program office. Responsible for daily operations of the SURTASS Operations Center (SOC) to include array evolutions, daily message transmission, equipment preventive and corrective action and responding to program office/customer requests/requirements. Direct interaction with embarked non-Leidos entities in support of the contract for array evolutions, mission requirements, communications plans, port entry/departure and security of all SURTASS controlled spaces (physical and electronic). Ensure all rules and regulations are followed and report when there are any violations. Responsible for the training of new personnel and continued training of experienced personnel. Acts as the Commanding Officer of the onboard COMSEC account.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associates degree in electronic technology or equivalent military class “C” electronics maintenance school and 8 years of experience
- Electronics maintenance background
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a task lead as required.
- TS/SCI clearance
- Qualified in all SURTASS positions
- Experience on U.S. Navy electronics equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 600 sea day on the SURTASS program
- Worked in position under instruction for 2 missions.

Pay Range:Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
