Provides direct support to autistic and IDD consumers by preparing instructional materials, implementing curricula and behavior plans, assisting with hygiene, facilitating leisure and community activities, maintaining safety, recording data, and responding to crises using trained intervention techniques.

  • effectively able to stoop, bend, lift up to 20 pounds, kneel, sit on the floor, walk a distance of up to one mile at a time, and run at a brisk pace in order to support a consumer who elopes.
Qualifications

The employee should demonstrate the philosophy and values of The Center for Autism Education, adhering strictly to the principles of Applied Behavior analysis and Code of Ethics, while giving leadership and innovation in the field.  Direct Support Staff should be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma, and experience with IDD population is preferred

Adults, parents, and families of The Center of Autism Education will be the population served by this position.  Interpersonal Skills will require oral and written communication skills to communicate with staff and families.
