About the Role
The Studio is looking for a new Support Staff - Belay!
This will be a responsible, attentive, outgoing and enthusiastic individual who is comfortable and familiar with working in a climbing gym facility. Candidates must understand the risks and safety requirements of being in a Touchstone facility and to convey this to any and all Touchstone members and guests. Individuals in this role will be teaching Intro to Climbing Classes, giving belay tests, monitoring safety in the gym through frequent safety walks, helping maintain a neat and clean environment for our members and guests, supervising and belaying youth and adult groups and more! Applicants must feel comfortable with belaying and engaging with younger children. Lastly, individuals must be able to work an assortment of different shifts (see descriptions below).
Qualities of an ideal candidate:
- Responsible and attentive—making sure that the climbing gym remains a safe and welcoming environment for all users
- Enthusiastic, friendly, and accessible—comfortable with talking to customers in different capacities (i.e. teaching someone how to belay, giving corrections when necessary, giving a belay test, helping with retail, during safety walks, etc.)
- Proactive and takes initiative—recognizes ways to stay occupied when working (i.e. helping the front desk, wiping down fitness equipment surfaces, doing a towel/laundry run, etc.)
- Passion for climbing and working with people
- Able to commit to at least two or more shifts per week and available on weekends and weekday evenings
Compensation and Benefits
Starting pay is $18.65/ per hour. Support Staff individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to; facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure.

Skills Required
- Familiarity with climbing gym facility operations
- Knowledge of climbing safety and risk management
- Ability to teach Intro to Climbing classes
- Ability to perform belay tests and belay safely for youth and adult groups

- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and weekday evenings; commit to at least two shifts per week
