Job Summary:
The Supply Chain Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted production operations by overseeing the procurement, coordination, and timely delivery of raw materials and packaging supplies. This position is responsible for managing end-to-end supply chain activities—from purchase order (PO) creation and vendor communication to inventory oversight and system accuracy within Sage MRP.
This role requires strong supplier relationship management, data-driven decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration to support production goals. The Supply Chain Supervisor continuously monitors inventory levels at NLX, ensures adherence to material requirements planning (MRP), and drives proactive solutions to potential supply disruptions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the use of external MRP tools to accurately calculate raw material and packaging needs to support production schedules
- Manage the complete material ordering lifecycle—from purchase order (PO) creation through tracking, fulfillment, and receipt at the plant
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and carriers to ensure timely and reliable material deliveries
- Investigate and resolve order discrepancies related to product quantity, quality, damage, or on-time delivery (OTD); escalate to relevant stakeholders as needed
- Promptly notify Production, Planning, and Supply Chain teams of any supply disruptions that may impact scheduled production runs
- Partner with Sourcing/Procurement and Planning/Scheduling departments to implement changes related to formulations, ingredients, or vendor adjustments
- Regularly evaluate raw material and packaging inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and minimizing excess or obsolete stock
- Learn, apply, and enforce all company safety policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- Comply with all quality assurance policies, including Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines
- Drives inventory optimization to align with working capital targets; owns and adheres to inventory levels v targets
- Maintains system data to enable accurate planning and forecasting; drives continuous improvement in planning parameters
- Monitors supplier KPIs (OTIF, lead time variance, spec adherence, documentation)
- Leads supplier escalation and recovery plans
- Drives supply chain KPIs (Inventory accuracy, raw material service level, working capital, write-offs, schedule adherence)
- Assist in the following tasks:
- Cross-reference production packet final counts with cycle counts to close work orders
- Assist the Training team in reviewing and updating SOPs
- Collaborate with department heads and supervisors to continuously improve documentation and paperwork processes
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in a relevant field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Must be able to interpret and convey safety procedures, technical documents, and operational instructions effectively
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members. Experience resolving conflicts, facilitating team performance, and maintaining high morale and accountability
- Demonstrated aptitude for identifying process issues and implementing practical solutions under minimal supervision
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing shift workflows, and adapting to shifting production demands
- Competent in basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Able to work with weights, measures, and calculators
- Comfortable working with basic computer systems, production interfaces, and inventory tracking tools
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety protocols and basic food production principles is a plus
- Reliable, hands-on, and adaptable with a team-oriented attitude. Demonstrates initiative and accountability in high-pressure environments
Physical Demands
- Willingness to work additional hours, and tailor schedule appropriately, to support team goals and meet deadlines
- Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills to meet essential job performance and safety standards
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly perform physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and using hands for detailed tasks
- Work environment sometimes involves exposure to inclement weather
- Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting, climbing, and using hand and power tools, including pallet jacks, scales, ladders, and standard material handling and cleaning equipment
- Capable of safely lifting up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day; ability to handle heavier items with proper lifting equipment or team-assisted techniques to ensure safety
Work Environment
- Employees must be able to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment that may include exposure to odors, dust, moderate noise levels, and fluctuations in temperature and ventilation
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, which may include but is not limited to: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, hairnets, uniforms, and face shields, as required by specific job duties and safety protocols
