Position Summary
The Sourcing Lead will oversee the cradle-to-grave effort to identify new and onboard, identify Manufactured parts to outsource, manages the make versus buy process, and ensures smooth transition from insourcing to outsourcing or outsourcing to insourcing as the case may be. The Sourcing Lead will also be the liaison between Purchasing, Supplier Performance Engineering (SQE team), Engineering (new and sustainment), Finance, and Manufacturing to meet sourcing goals. Manages and coordinates single and multi-year pricing updates which may lead to long-term or site pricing agreements. Continuous focus on sourcing strategies to include special focus on material availability, pump build, valve build, and aftermarket shipments.
Principal Activities
· Supports establishment and achievement of cost standards for annual operating budgets
· Supports sourcing analysis and selection process and performs cost analyses in conjunction with finance team
· Manages the make versus buy process, with a strong bias for implementing outsourced machining transitions
· Develop and maintain strong partnership relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses
· Support identification of supply base risk and implementation of mitigation plans in conjunction with Supplier Performance Engineering (SQE) team
· Reviews supplier scorecards and provides input into the development of action plans with SPE team to support business reviews for key suppliers
· Support Supply Chain Management teams (site and corporate levels) in creating and implementing strategic commodity plans and consolidation strategy
· Support creation and maintenance of best-in-class strategic sourcing processes
· Support development of strategies and goals for key commodities in support of overall site, divisional, and corporate business objectives
· Supports contract negotiation and development of contract strategy with site and corporate Supply Chain Management
· Support related cost controls and business strategy plans
· Manage Capital Request and Tooling budget for supplier tooling
· Obtain and communicate market condition information and technology trends related to commodities and suppliers
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
· Strong knowledge and demonstrated capacity to successfully source various commodities, especially machined components, castings (sand and investment), and specialty hardware
· Demonstrated analytical ability to successfully drive make-versus-buy decisions
· Strong management skills to drive change and manage several projects at any one time
· Influencing without hierarchical power on various levels in organization
· Advanced knowledge and experience of sourcing and MRP processes and methodologies
Education & Experience
· Bachelor's Degree (BA) preferred from a four-year college or university in engineering or supply chain management
· 5+ years minimum experience in Sourcing aforementioned commodities in a regulated industry
· FAR/DFAR experience strongly preferred
· Sourcing in a low volume, high mix environment highly preferred
· C.P.M., C.P.I.M. or related certification preferred but not required
