Job Description

  

PURPOSE

The Senior Materials Planner is part of the Supply Chain group aimed at delivery reliability, product planning, material planning, warehouse control and reports to the Supply Chain Manager. The Senior Materials Planner coordinates the activities which are aimed at the establishment and control of the production plan and flow of goods. The Senior Materials Planner is also responsible for correct set-up and control of logistical master-data in the ERP system.

As part of the compliance team the Senior Materials Planners makes sure that, together with the team-members, compliance rules and regulations are met. Next to that the Senior material planner drives continuous improvements within material management/planning. The activities aim to obtain the goals and targets set by Teledyne DALSA.

 

 

RESULT AREAS OF THE FUNCTION:

 

On time availability of material

Ensuring the material meets the sales order demand. Delivery performance is measured regularly and meets the targeted level. Lead improvement projects within material management resulting in shorter lead-times, reduction of inventory and lower total cost of ownership.

 

Key activities:

  • Active role in MPS meeting to assess the attainability of the forecast.
  • Confirm sales orders based on available capacity and materials.
  • Based on MRP/MPS judgement of material proposal will made based on sales information, risk on supply, purchase and supplier agreements, man and machine availability, capacity constraints, yield and stock positions.
  • Responsible for drafting the short term and middle term production plan based on the rolling forecast in cooperation with the Logistics Manager and Product Planner and Production Manager for the available capacity (internal and external) and yield.
  • Maintains from time to time contact with strategic suppliers/sub-contractors on for instance packaging, order handling, transport and delivery times. The main suppliers’ performance is evaluated, at least annually, through the supplier rating procedure. The main goal is to improve supplier performance.
  • Create and maintain logistic supplier agreements.
  • Determines in consultation with the Supply Chain Manager the key performance indicators and ensures adequate reporting with regard to these key performance indicators.
  • Converts set (year) goals and targets regarding delivery time, stock, deliveries and quality from the business/annual plan to department projects and actions.
  • Informs and reports within the department as well as within the organization about the achieved results, for instance via the Key Performance Indictors.
  • Align and communicate with colleagues of external plants concerning subcontracting of modules and finished goods.
  • Preside weekly purchasing meeting. Appoint concrete actions towards Purchasing assistant’s regarding follow up on confirmations, deliveries and pull-ins from suppliers.
  • Participates in improvement projects and takes care of supply chain tasks within these projects.

 

Stock positions

Ensure stock levels are managed on the targeted level and obsolesce is minimized.

 

Key activities:

  • Coordinating role at annual inventory count.
  • Active role in life cycle management activities of BOM materials, last time buys and end of life of components.
  • Responsible for the cost price structure as set up within TDBV.
  • Owner and responsible of the logistical set-up of item master data in the ERP system.
  • Responsible for prioritization of material deliveries setting.
  • Keeps informed internally as well as externally about developments in the field.
  • Maintains contact within the field and with colleagues with Teledyne Corporate.

 

Import administration

Ensuring that all shipments and information are received and that people act according the Teledyne compliance policy.

 

Key activities:

  • Import administrator and export administrator back up within Teledyne DALSA BV
    • Establishes and manages standard operating procedures in compliance with import and export regulations
    • Provides advice .and guidance to employees within the organization regard to trade compliance requirements.
    • Review custom product contracts for regulatory requirements for import and export.
    • Responsible for providing interpretations and advice regarding customs matters with Dutch/EU and foreign Customs regulations as well as providing up to date information regarding changes in these regulations.
    • Responsible for identifying (potential) areas of import/export compliance vulnerability and risk within the organization; work to appropriately evaluate, investigate and resolve or mitigate potential risks along the Cooperate Trade Compliance Office.
    • Coordinate all Customs import and export activity for the organization.
    • Coordinate activities with freight forwarders and Customs brokers with regard to export and import licenses and other documentation.
    • Ensure standard import and export classification of standard products.
    • Coordinate all record keeping.
    • Act as point of contact for any import and export issues or audits.
    • Identifies all training needs within the organization with regard to export and import compliance matters.
    • Conduct periodic self-assessments and implement corrective actions.
    • Assists organization in ensuring all standard and public domain information are export compliant.

 

GENERAL

  • Has access to computer systems according to authorization procedure.
  • Has knowledge of the quality system ISO9001 and ISO14385.
  • Has access to those parts of logistics system that are required for the execution of the function.
  • Is trained according to Teledyne compliance rules and keep contact with experts within Teledyne organization.
  • Senior Materials Planner is the linking pin between material demand and product delivery and has intensive contact with project leaders, purchasing, logistic manager, sales and production.
  • Senior Materials Planner has understanding and sense to interpret (change) behavior, habits and reactions of different cultures.
  • Understand complex technical issues and can communicate with technical experts to manage issues concerning material availability, alternative material, on time deliveries and production equipment.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Logistics training at higher professional level, Bachelor degree is required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch.
  • Excellent knowledge of ERP and computer skills.
  • Hands-on mentality.
  • Accurate and punctual.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills including to collect, structure, analyze and communicate data.
  • At least ten to twelve years of experience in a similar function.

 

Import administrator related requirements:

  • Full knowledge of HTS classification principles and Word Trade Organization Valuation Agreement (GATT).
  • Technical expertise in import laws and regulations, including classifications, valuation, country of origin, duty preference programs and sanctioned party screening.
  • Experience in development and implementation of trade compliance procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand complex international legal regulations.
  • Experience with any of the following a plus: NAFTA, CETA, Trade preference programs and Free Trade Agreement.
