Supply Chain Planner Rod & Strip Job description:
Overview:
Reporting to the Canada Supply Chain Manager, you will execute the planning and scheduling to allow for the most efficient execution of the S&OP plan to ensure customer satisfaction, operational & manufacturing efficiencies, and judicious management of working capital. In this position you will work closely with Inside Sales, the Product Team and Plant scheduling personnel of two of our facilities based in Canada. Your new position executes the Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP) while also playing a key role in executing portions of the plan by reviewing customer and business expectations by instituting target inventory and production levels to satisfy those objectives.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Plan timely purchase of the raw materials / finished goods in order to comply with the assigned stock level policies designed
• Develop sales and operations plans for the assigned area of responsibility in order to optimize cost and service level
• Acts as bridging role between sales and manufacturing to manage priorities and changes in the plan in order to optimize service level and costs
• Reviews unusual demand flags for appropriate action
• Analyzes sales of stock products to create an effective ABC classification and establishes root causes for slow moving inventory
• Computes safety stock and reorder points for stock program
• Updates and publishes lead times
• Reviews customer service metrics and investigates root causes
• Orders outsourced products as needed
• Maintains proper balance of inventory throughout manufacturing and distribution network
• Establishes priorities for production and requests to expedite
• Executes the production schedules in line with the S&OP plan. Ideally, each production plant will develop the weekly schedules, operating within parameters agreed upon with the Supply Planner.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Results-driven to effect constant improvement in cycle times, service and inventory turns.
• Solid communication skills to operate in cross-functional and matrix environment.
• French preferred but not mandatory
• Ability to plan, organize and pull together information from disparate sources to form a coherent picture of the state of play allowing for scoping of actions
• Solid logic/reasoning skills which are able to influence and persuade different functional groups within the organization
Qualifications:
• 5-10 years in a Supply Chain or Operations (manufacturing, distribution, materials management, etc.) role is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) is essential
• Familiarity with enterprise systems and databases
