The Role

Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to act as the program / project leader of In-Market Supply chain of new product introductions (NPI), in/out-licensed products, site transfer and close, supply route change, divestment and discontinuation driven by Supply Chain.  This role also is responsible for Incident Management Team specialized for Supply Chian to ensure the sustainable supply.

This role provides leadership of cross-functions multi-level project teams at key stages of the NPI and product lifecycle post launch, working with partners to ensure that the products are transferred successfully to Local Site or divested 3rd parties, and delivered on time to the highest level of quality and robustness.

This role will be responsible for ensuring the requirements of the market relating to product supply are understood and managed appropriately by Supply Chain.  In addition, the role holder will ensure that any supply issues are understood and managed within the market by cross functional teams.

Commercial activities are not in the scope such as Sales force and Marketing strategy; however, the role holder needs to understand the commercial strategy

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ensuring Supply Chain NPI & life cycle management team has a clear set of strategic principles based on Product/Brand and its lifecycle.   This role will be responsible for

  • Lead and deliver the commercialization of new products and subsequent transfers from Global sites to Local site, the existing products site transfer, site close, divestment and discontinuation driven by Supply chain, embedding quality and capability. 
  • Oversee the project activities and support to resolve the issues or mitigate the risks. Involve and influence the project teams to ensure robust, fit for purpose processes and projects are delivered and the key learnings are captured as part of knowledge management. Typically consisting of representatives are from the following functions: Japan Medical, Development, Regulatory, Marketing, Quality, Production, Technical, Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain and Finance.
  • Ensure that all factors impacting the overall business success within the supply chain are identified, analyzed and followed through to successful execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all related policies and procedures (including GMP, EHS, Local quality, QMS and GDP) and that all work is performed and documented to a standard
  • Develop the best project plans for Japan assets, monitor of adherence to plans and develop contingency plans.
  • Familiar with GSK Franchise assets and market launch ambitions
  • Manage supply risks and lead critical activities including supply incident management team, sustainable supply management and compliance.
  • Lead a team of professionals, setting clear direction and ensuring appropriate capabilities are developed.
  • Contribute to Local Supply Chain as a Supply chain leadership team member.

Basic Qualification

Skill

  • Proficient knowledge of supply chain including manufacturing and quality, and project management
  • Demonstrating strength in leadership and the development of a team
  • Creating performance culture and driving results, prioritization, execution, delivering performance and innovation.
  • Building strong relationships and collaboration in service of common goals, engaging the organization and building trusted external networks for mutual benefit.
  • Experience communicating with and influencing/managing stakeholders
  • Understanding of supply chain processes, regulatory constraints, planning and logistics
  • Experience in project implementation & a track record of successfully closing out these activities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Agile and distributed decision-making under pressure and with incomplete information using evidence and applying judgement to balance pace, rigor and risk, governance and control, managing ambiguity and paradox.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, regulatory or medical development
  • Experience acting as an effective leader in an environment spanning multiple teams and geographies.
  • Experience problem solving in Pharma/Biotech commercial and managing complex and long-term projects
  • Experience working with industry standards and expectations with ability to interact with and influence third parties.
  • Experience with performance and capability in enabling and driving change, identifying, and implementing holistic business solutions.

Education/Certification/Language

  • University degree (Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering) or practical experience in a relevant field
  • Good written and verbal communications skills in English.
  • Bilingual Japanese / English preferred.

Preferred Qualification

  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experienced in a matrix environment, able to drive impact across a range of functions
