Position Summary:

Coordinates activities involved with sourcing and procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, to avoid unforeseen changes in orders and /or production for organization by performing essential functions.  

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the execution of daily logistics operations
  • Tracking of all shipments and delivery requirements
  • Oversees the transportation and storage of products and materials
  • Expedite materials/components when necessary
  • Communicate with vendors and clients regarding their deliveries and supply requirements
  • Understanding of import/export regulations, common shipping transactions and transportation consideration
  • Work all exception report activity including material defect and damage claims
  • Strategic sourcing, procurement order placing, releasing, planning, projecting and forecasting product needs
  • Work closely and quickly within the organization regarding the daily material maintenance activity
  • Enter all necessary transaction in ERP system, perform cycle counts and resolve inventory discrepancies as needed
  • Interface with supply chain, production and engineering management to provide excellent customer support
  • Sustain a balance of inventory to ensure low valuation while maintaining the highest possible fill rate
  • Negotiate the best quality and delivery at the most reasonable cost, consistent with accepted standards
  • Create, maintain and update materials systems reports, department activity reports, market trends as well as usage, consumption and obsolescence modules
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or related field; or five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Master's degree considered a plus
  • Two (2) to five (5) years working experience with logistics, negotiation, purchasing or equivalent preferred.  
  • Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM) or Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification considered a plus.
  • Solar, semiconductor or other highly technical background and experience conserved a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and supply chain software.

Skills and Abilities

  • Be able to, adjust, adapt and maintain a positive attitude in a fast paced atmosphere. 
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese preferred (written and verbal)
  • This position directly interfaces with both domestic and international companies and vendors, which requires a high level of diplomacy, to maintain and solidify strong supply line relationships.
  • Excellent proficiency in spreadsheets, data analytics, knowledge of ERP systems and database management preferred.  
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production and/or departmental needs. 

Physical Demands

  • Typical demands include those of an office environment including typing and sitting for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 51 pounds unassisted, when performing essential job functions.
  • May need to bend, stoop, crouch, ascend, and/or descend on a regular basis, when performing essential job functions.
  • Constantly observes, assesses, inspects, communicates, detects, conveys, and exchanges information, when performing essential job functions.
