Summary

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for working with Plant and Corporate Logistics & Transportation, Purchasing, Sales, Accounting, Customer Care, and Plant/Site Management to develop and execute the end-to-end Supply Chain strategies & business execution for the site/business segment operations. This includes management of responsibilities for all Supply Chain operations in the areas of Warehouse and Shipping, Inventory Control, Procurement, Production Planning, Raw Material Planning and Receiving, and Transportation Management (both inbound/ outbound shipments). This position will ensure that proper business, risk management, and safety processes are established and executed for these areas.

The individual will be responsible for the staffing and development of new and existing Supply Chain employees (as related to their primary job function) to ensure facility and department goals are aligned. Further, this individual will be accountable for the site(s) achieving distribution cost goals, inbound freight metrics, service reliability metrics, purchasing, raw material cost savings, and volume goals. The position will evaluate and drive improvements in overall safety, and business strategy, along with operational cost-effectiveness and efficiency within the Supply Chain function. The position will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our relationships with third-party warehousing partners and ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations in line with our company's objectives.

Responsible for managing the relationships with key partners, both suppliers and customers, negotiating cost and service for purchasing and transportation services, leases, and agreements to include fleet and lift truck equipment. This individual will coordinate with Corporate Purchasing Managers to ensure alignment with Corporate contracts and efficient raw material planning and ordering to maximize value for GAF and will work with Standard Logistics for transportation procurement.

Essential Duties

  • Lead team in meeting or exceeding site safety goals, by providing a safe work environment, training, and materials as needed, and instilling a culture of safety in Shipping/Warehousing operations.
  • Drive down Supply Chain related costs through effective leadership and management of the Plant's Supply Chain resources. Manage costs to budgetary goals in the areas of Purchasing, Inbound and Outbound Transportation, and Warehouse Operations. Identify, champion, and capture cost savings opportunities through Supply Chain related projects, including collaboration with Corporate Purchasing, Logistics and Transportation, Sales, Accounting, Customer Care, and the Plant team on the development of a distribution strategy. Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party warehousing providers. Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the performance of third-party warehouses. Regularly evaluate and report on the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of warehousing operations. Collaborate with internal teams to streamline and enhance warehouse processes. Oversee inventory levels and accuracy in third-party warehouses. Facilitate clear communication and coordination to ensure smooth operations and problem resolution.
  • Effectively manage Supply Chain resources to ensure Service and Volume goals are met and Procurement processes are followed. This includes ensuring effective Production Scheduling, Finished Goods replenishment, Raw Material ordering and inventory management, Purchase Order management (including P.O. closure), and Supply Chain execution. Maintain an effective inbound and outbound carrier base. Coordinate with Corporate Purchasing and lead Plant's efforts to optimize raw material delivered costs (FOB and freight) and ensure back-up/alternative supply options exist for key raw materials. Lead efforts to ensure multiple suppliers for packaging commodities such as pallets, stretch wraps, etc. are approved and contracted. Actively lead and/or participate in regional buying teams. Actively lead efforts to become carrier-centric and expand the carrier base to meet demand spikes caused by sales promotions, seasonal buys, weather-related business spikes, etc.
  • Ensure quality standards are met on inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods, as well as in the execution of key Supply Chain processes managed at the Plant. Work alongside the Plant Quality Manager to ensure all raw material corrective and preventive action (CAPA) requests are submitted to vendors and follow up to ensure timely response from vendors. Ensure monthly reporting of raw material rejects and other supplier metrics. Ensure contractual commitments and supplier assessments, ensuring all purchases are consistent with quality and delivery requirements.
  • Provide training and development plans, including coaching, training, and staffing for new and existing Logistics, Purchasing, and Planning employees (as related to their primary job function) to ensure facility and department goals are aligned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs and walk on open grating on elevated surfaces
  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing
  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery
  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally operate business machines
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Accounting or Logistics/Supply Chain required
  • 7+ years related experience in a high volume manufacturing, distribution, purchasing, production planning, and transportation environment preferred
  • APICS Certified preferred
