Role Summary
The Supply Chain Launch Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that production operators have timely access to all materials required to build vehicles during new model launches and major changes. This role leads and coordinates material flow, storage, and delivery strategies, and may supervise appointed hourly/material teams. The coordinator develops and implements new processes, standards, and systems that support launch and ongoing operations, directly impacting safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Plan, design, and execute storage and flow strategies for launch and interim materials, including bulk and small lot containers, within the plant and/or offsite locations.
  • Establish and optimize material delivery routes and processes (e.g., dolly exchange, lightweight/tuggable systems) to support efficient line-side presentation.
  • Define and implement indirect material flow processes and oversee internal and external material flow activities, including receiving, storage, kitting, and line delivery.
  • Manage the full life cycle of launch material (ordering, storing, delivering, changeovers, and scrapping), ensuring alignment with engineering changes and build plans.
  • Lead floor planning and execution for new or changing materials in Body/General Assembly, including build management (incoming material, TWOs, kitting, line-side presentation).
  • Coordinate with 3rd party logistics providers, sequencing suppliers, and other service providers on plant processes, systems requirements, and performance.
  • Represent the Material/Supply Chain function in facility layout and process changes; coordinate with plant engineering on facility and equipment modifications.
  • Participate in plant planning and Plan For Every Part (PFEP) activities; maintain and update departmental master plans and timelines.
  • Analyze and apply lean material strategies (min/max, route sizing, frequency, storage concepts) to design future-state processes and reduce waste.
  • Understand and assess complex supply chain/material issues and lead cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance, IT, UAW) to resolve them while minimizing impact to production.
  • Summarize critical launch and material issues, risks, and resolutions and communicate status to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support internal controls and Business Plan Deployment processes, ensuring documentation, metrics, and compliance for assigned areas.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with external suppliers; collaborate cross-functionally to develop creative, practical solutions.
  • Manage appointed UAW material teams and/or appointed project teams, including setting expectations, following up on actions, and supporting team development.
  • Be flexible to support launch timing, including extended and non-core hours and limited domestic travel (e.g., to other plants or supplier locations) as required.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, material handling, manufacturing, or closely related operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of material systems, supply chain processes, and manufacturing/assembly operations (e.g., material flow, PFEP, min/max, lean material strategies, engineering change management).
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose complex material flow and storage issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and deliver on time in a fast-paced, launch-focused environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize issues and influence cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and, when required, lead or coordinate appointed teams.
  • Proficiency with standard business computer tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort working with data and systems.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended and non-core hours and travel, as required, to support launch execution.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of manufacturing floor experience in supply chain, operations, quality, or engineering.
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain
  • Experience with vehicle or major program launches, including layout planning, pilot builds, and/or launch control processes.
  • Experience managing appointed UAW/material teams or other cross-functional project teams.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes to develop line-side presentations, material delivery strategies, and operator capacity considerations.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and plant material systems (e.g., GMOS, MGO) and proficiency in AutoCAD or similar layout tools.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and driving process improvements with minimal lead time to become effective in a new environment.
