Job Description
Oxford Nanopore Technologies: Our goal is to bring the widest benefits to society through enabling the analysis of anything, by anyone, anywhere.
The company has developed a new generation of nanopore-based sensing technology for faster, information rich, accessible and affordable molecular analysis.
The first application is DNA/RNA sequencing, and the technology is in development for the analysis of other types of molecules including proteins.
The technology is used to understand and characterise the biology of humans and diseases such as cancer, plants, animals, bacteria, viruses, and whole environments.
With a thriving culture of ambition and strong innovation goals, Oxford Nanopore is a UK headquartered company with global operations and customers in more than 125 countries!
We are looking for a motivated and curious individual to join our Supply Chain team as a Supply Chain Centre of Excellence Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a global, science-led technology company while supporting key process improvement programmes across the business. The internship is for a 12 months period and will be based at our HQ in Oxford.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Planning Excellence within the Supply Chain Centre of Excellence, you will support the delivery of process improvements, working closely with cross-functional teams across supply chain, operations and support functions.

Key responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Support the coordination and implementation of process improvement initiatives, with a focus on systems and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with teams across supply chain, operations and wider business functions.
  • Analyse, monitor and maintain data within business systems.
  • Support testing of new systems, processes and functionality.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining process maps, standard operating procedures, work instructions, videos, presentations and training materials.
  • Monitor new processes, track changes, review existing workflows and report updates, risks or issues where required.
  • Support additional tasks and projects within the scope of the role.

About you:

You will ideally be working towards a degree in Supply Chain, although we also welcome applications from students in related areas such as accounting, marketing, engineering, business or other relevant disciplines.

You should be organised, proactive and self-motivated, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable working with different teams and able to engage effectively across a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.

This is a one-year internship, with flexibility around start and end dates for students completing an industry placement before returning to university. The ideal start date is beginning of September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills, gain valuable real-world experience and contribute to work that has the potential to make a meaningful difference to humankind.

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is committed to equal opportunities. All candidates will be assessed fairly based on their skills, qualifications, experience and ability to perform the duties of the role.

What We Do

Our goal is to enable the analysis of anything, anywhere, by anyone. We have developed the world’s first and only nanopore DNA and RNA sequencing platform. It’s a new generation of sequencing technology — the only one to offer: scalability to portable or ultra-high throughput formats, real-time data delivery, and the ability to elucidate rich biological data. We are aiming to disrupt the way that biological analyses are currently performed, and open up new applications that have a profound, positive impact on society. Our devices offer real-time analysis, for rapid insights, in fully scalable formats — from pocket to population scale — and the technology is being used in more than 100 countries worldwide. Founded in 2005 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford, the company now employs more than 600 people from multiple disciplines including nanopore science, molecular biology and applications, informatics, engineering, electronics, manufacturing and commercialisation. The management team, led by CEO Dr Gordon Sanghera, has a track record of delivering disruptive technologies to the market.
