Reporting to the Director, Commodity Management Mechanical the Supply Chain Intelligence & Risk Manager is responsible for leading Flex's Global Procurement and Supply Chain (GPSC) market intelligence and supply chain risk management (SCRM) programs. This role owns the strategy, platforms, and processes that give Flex segments, business groups, and customers visibility into commodity market conditions, supplier financial health, regulatory/trade compliance exposure, and supply chain disruptions. The Senior Manager works cross-functionally with Commodity Managers (GCM), Site Supply Chain Managers (SSCM), Trade Compliance, Legal, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Finance, and Operations to ensure Flex can anticipate, quantify, and respond to supply chain risk while keeping internal and external stakeholders informed through timely market intelligence reporting
What a typical day looks like:
- Monitor and triage inboxes for market intel and Supply chain risk for stakeholder requests and provide resolution.
- Review supply chain alerts, open-source media, and internal reports daily for potential supply chain disruptions; determine whether to escalate.
- Consolidate GCM-provided commodity outlooks and cost increase notices on a biweekly/monthly cadence and prepare stakeholder-ready write-ups.
- Coordinate with Trade Compliance and Legal to validate scope and impact of new regulatory developments (e.g., entity list updates, sanctions changes).
- Manage subscription and vendor administrative tasks, invoice/PO processing, renewal approvals, user access requests, NDA tracking.
- Run or support training sessions for stakeholders on Supply chain risk and market intel platforms.
- Support annual supply chain mapping outreach to core suppliers.
- Participate in or lead task forces responding to active disruptions (e.g., export control actions, sanctioned-entity exposure, force majeure events).
- Review and refine the risk engine's taxonomy/scoring logic based on new data or lessons learned from recent disruptions.
- Prepare leadership-facing updates summarizing market conditions, compliance risk, and disruption status.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Own and manage the portfolio of market intelligence subscriptions including renewals, contract negotiations, vendor relationships, and access management.
- Direct the production and distribution of recurring market intelligence deliverables - Quarterly Market Intelligence Report, Commodity Market Pulse, and Cost Increase Notices ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery to GCM, SSCM, Operations, and customer audiences.
- Development of the Market Intelligence Hub (AI-powered platform) to modernize and automate intelligence delivery, reducing reliance on manual reporting.
- Lead supplier financial risk screening processes, including high-risk onboarding escalations, and ad-hoc financial screening requests in coordination with Credit team/
- Maintain awareness of evolving trade and regulatory risk and lead Flex's response posture, escalating to leadership and mobilizing cross-functional teams as needed.
- Own selection, evaluation, and lifecycle management of SCRM platforms including RFI/RFP processes, contract negotiation, user administration, and stakeholder training.
- Lead supply chain disruption monitoring and the crisis management process, including triggering and running war rooms/task forces, coordinating supplier impact assessments, and issuing internal/external communications.
- Guide the design and ongoing calibration of Flex's risk assessment framework risk taxonomy, scoring weights, and thresholds and oversee front-end risk tools used by GCM and SSCM teams.
- Build and maintain a prioritized list of high-importance suppliers/items for ongoing risk monitoring based on revenue impact and exposure.
- Apply project management discipline to platform deployments and key initiatives - setting timelines, providing regular status updates to stakeholders, and ensuring tools and platforms are delivered on schedule.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training
- Minimum of 8 years of management experience.
- Project management skills - able to set realistic timelines, provide regular status reporting to stakeholders, and drive on-time deployment of new tools and platforms
- Familiarity with supply chain risk management platforms and financial screening tools (D&B Risk Analytics).
- Working knowledge of market intelligence data sources and commodity market dynamics
- Understanding of global trade compliance regimes
- Experience with risk quantification/scoring frameworks and supply chain risk tools
- Proficiency in business intelligence and reporting tools (Microstrategy or similar), Excel, and PowerPoint for executive-level reporting.
- Experience managing SaaS/data vendor contracts, including RFI/RFP processes, renewal negotiations, and budget/PO administration.
- Familiarity with internal communications platforms (Act-On, Staffbase, SharePoint) for disseminating intelligence reports broadly.
- Understanding of BOM-level risk concepts (component lifecycle, obsolescence, EOL) is a plus, particularly for electronics manufacturing services (EMS) environments.
