About Focused Energy

At Focused Energy, we are pioneering NeoLyte—a breakthrough initiative in compact, laser-driven radiation sources (LDRS) with cutting-edge, high-power laser technology. Our dual-mode LDRS platform enables real-time, non-destructive inspection of a wide range of materials, including complex and shielded items, by combining MeV X-rays and fast neutrons in a single, modular system. This technology addresses critical challenges across nuclear waste analysis, contraband detection, infrastructure inspection, and medical isotope production. With its unique combination of high resolution, material specificity, and deployment flexibility, LDRS creates opportunities beyond the limits of conventional systems. Our cross-disciplinary team brings together experts in laser and plasma physics, engineering, and AI. We are building our first pilot facility in Biblis, Germany, and moving rapidly toward market readiness and commercial deployment. Join us at the ground floor of this deep-tech venture and help shape the future of radiation source technology.

Role Scope & Context

As Supply Chain Engineer, you will design and implement robust systems to record and manage day-to-day procurement activities—from purchase requests and PO tracking to delivery confirmation and supplier management. You will be responsible for enabling efficient, compliant procurement processes and ensuring the technical team is empowered through seamless supply chain support.

Core Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end procurement process, from purchase request intake through to PO placement and quality assurance of received parts

  • Identify and register new suppliers, issue RFQs, negotiate pricing and lead times, initiate POs, and track orders through delivery

  • Build and implement an internal purchase order management system—including order registration, delivery tracking, and documentation standards—aligned to company financial policies

  • Develop a supplier selection process optimizing for cost, lead time, technical capability, and compliance; make this resource accessible to the LDRS team

  • Monitor market trends for relevant technologies to support long-term project budget planning

  • Ensure all purchase items are compliant with industry standards, applicable safety regulations, and cleanroom requirements

  • Produce and maintain detailed procurement documentation, including delivery notes, certificates, and warranty records

  • Lead and actively contribute to team meetings providing technical purchase reports and support

  • Collaborate closely with Finance on PO approvals, supplier payments, and budget tracking

Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in technical procurement, with a strong background in high-precision and high-cleanliness components

  • Deep expertise in purchasing and office software (e.g., Windows, MS Office, Adobe, Navis CAD viewer)

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and production techniques—ideally with vacuum systems, cleanroom operations, or mechano-optical systems

  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory needs in radiation environments and shielding

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to critically assess technical designs

  • Proficiency in German; willingness and ability to travel regularly to Darmstadt (Hesse region)

What We Offer
  • Be part of an innovative, mission-driven team at the forefront of deep-tech

  • Opportunity to shape systems and processes from the ground up

  • Collaborate with world-class researchers, engineers, and scientists

  • Competitive compensation, flexible work arrangements, and career advancement opportunities

  • Play a vital role in launching pioneering technology with real-world impact
