Position Summary
This position supports our customer by managing supplier communication, material follow-up, escalation activity, shortage recovery, and reporting visibility across the supply chain. The role is responsible for monitoring part status, identifying supply risks, coordinating with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and helping ensure customer requirements are met through timely issue resolution and proactive follow-up.
This position serves as a key link between suppliers, the customer, and internal Penske operations by providing accurate updates, driving accountability, improving communication, and supporting continuous improvement across day-to-day supply chain activities.
This position is located onsite with our customer in Warren, MI. Candidate must be willing to work 3 days onsite with an expectation that there could be a need to work 5 days (M-F) onsite.
Shift:
Monday thru Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Major Responsibilities:
- Monitor supplier performance and perform detailed follow-up on part availability, shipment status, backorders, and recovery timing to help ensure customer requirements are met
- Communicate directly with suppliers regarding shortages, late shipments, production constraints, and recovery plans
- Escalate critical supply issues when suppliers are not meeting expectations, and drive timely follow-up through resolution
- Provide accurate and timely reporting, status updates, and issue visibility to Penske leadership, customer stakeholders, and internal team members
- Track, document, audit, and research supply chain issues to support clear decision-making and accountability
- Coordinate across suppliers, customer contacts, distribution centers, transportation partners, and internal teams to resolve material flow disruptions
- Analyze part status and supply concerns to identify risks, prioritize urgent issues, and support recovery planning
- Maintain and update information across customer and company systems to ensure shipment, inventory, and issue data is accurate and current
- Support problem solving and root-cause discussions related to shortages, missed ship dates, process gaps, and supplier performance concerns
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in reporting, communication, follow-up processes, and operational execution
- Partner with team members to support performance standards, service expectations, and customer-focused execution
Support additional projects and tasks as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 1 year of Transportation Management experience preferred, with a focus on shipment coordination
• Must also be able to learn and regularly operate multiple company and customer transportation management and inventory systems.
• Ability to work independently, customer service, dealing with others, multi-tasking skills, organizational skills, team player, flexibility required, verbal & written communication skills, excellent with numbers and time management, strong problem solving skills required
• Advanced computer skills including Excel and Outlook required
• Experience using office tools such as MS Office or Google Suite
• Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions required
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
