Position Summary
The Supply Chain Analyst/Supervisor is responsible for analyzing, planning, and optimizing the flow of raw materials, production schedules, inventory, and finished goods within a fast-paced meat manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient procurement, inventory control, production planning, warehousing, logistics, and distribution activities to meet customer demand while maintaining product quality, regulatory compliance, and cost objectives.
In addition to analytical responsibilities, this position serves as a frontline leader overseeing the Logistics and Inventory team. The Supply Chain Analyst/Supervisor is responsible for directing daily operations, managing personnel, improving processes, and ensuring accurate execution of shipping, receiving, inventory management, and warehouse activities.

Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Planning & Analysis
• Analyze demand forecasts, sales trends, and production capacity to develop accurate supply plans.
• Coordinate raw material requirements, packaging materials, and production supplies.
• Monitor production schedules to ensure alignment with customer orders and inventory targets.
• Identify gaps between supply and demand and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance inventory levels, production efficiency, and customer service goals.
• Provide leadership input regarding staffing, workload balancing, and operational resource planning.

Inventory Management
• Track and manage inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), packaging materials, and finished goods.
• Optimize inventory turns while minimizing stockouts, waste, excess inventory, and obsolescence.
• Monitor shelf-life-sensitive products and ensure proper inventory rotation practices (FIFO/FEFO).
• Conduct variance analysis and oversee cycle count and physical inventory processes.
• Lead inventory accuracy initiatives and establish accountability for inventory control processes.
• Supervise inventory personnel to ensure accurate transactions, receiving, storage, and inventory reconciliation.

Procurement Support
• Assist in sourcing and procurement planning of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and operational supplies.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and consistent material quality.
• Monitor commodity market trends and assess impacts on cost and supply availability.
• Support supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with procurement and operations leadership to mitigate supply chain risks.

Production & Operations Support
• Work closely with production, quality assurance, maintenance, and warehouse teams to ensure efficient operations.
• Support production scheduling and material availability to maximize throughput.
• Analyze downtime, yield loss, labor utilization, and waste to identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency and cost reduction.
• Coordinate with logistics and inventory staff to ensure uninterrupted material flow throughout production processes.

Logistics & Distribution
• Oversee day-to-day shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation activities.
• Coordinate outbound customer shipments and inbound supplier deliveries.
• Optimize transportation planning and reduce freight costs while maintaining service levels.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, storage, transportation, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor carrier performance and resolve shipping, receiving, and transportation issues.
• Establish and maintain logistics KPIs related to service, cost, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Provide direct supervision and support to logistics personnel to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Team Leadership & Supervision
• Directly supervise Logistics Coordinators, Inventory Specialists, Warehouse personnel, and other assigned team members.
• Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work activities to support production schedules and customer requirements.
• Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.
• Conduct performance evaluations and establish measurable performance goals.
• Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees.
• Ensure team compliance with company policies, safety standards, food safety requirements, and operational procedures.
• Manage staffing schedules, attendance, and workload distribution.
• Lead team meetings and communicate operational priorities and performance expectations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Data Analysis & Reporting
• Develop, monitor, and maintain KPIs including service levels, inventory accuracy, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, labor productivity, and production efficiency.
• Generate reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to support business decisions.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems to analyze trends and identify improvement opportunities.
• Present findings and recommendations to management.
• Track team performance metrics and develop action plans to improve operational results.

Compliance & Food Safety
• Ensure supply chain and warehouse practices comply with USDA, FDA, HACCP, SQF, GMP, and company standards.
• Maintain traceability of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Promote food safety, quality, and workplace safety initiatives throughout the department.
• Ensure team members are properly trained and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of supply chain, planning, logistics, warehouse, inventory, or operations experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience overseeing logistics, warehouse, inventory, or supply chain personnel.
• Experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or other perishable goods industries strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software required.
