Senior Material Compliance Engineer – Hyderabad, India (6+ Years Experience)

Position Summary:

As a Senior Material Compliance Engineer, based in Hyderabad, India, you will be a key individual contributor driving global material compliance initiatives, with a deep focus on RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, EU WFD, TSCA, and Conflict Minerals Regulation. You will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of formalized compliance processes, ensuring all plants and suppliers globally meet these standards. Working with cross-functional teams, you will focus on optimizing compliance strategies, handling escalations, and ensuring seamless coordination between Regal suppliers, plants, and third-party partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of global Material Compliance processes, including the introduction, coordination, and alignment of suppliers and plants with global compliance policies (RoHS, REACH, EU WFD, Conflict Minerals & others).
  • Onboarding the new 3rd party service provider. Setting up suppliers, leading campaign runs, data collection using 3rd party platform.
  • Act as the primary driver for material compliance initiatives resulting from customer requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on all regulatory compliance, including providing guidance and leadership on compliance projects.
  • Coordinate with global suppliers and internal stakeholders to gather Bill of Materials (BOM) data and ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Issue certificates (RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, EU WFD) to customers, maintaining consistent communication and updates on compliance status.
  • Support and drive continuous improvement of global compliance processes by partnering closely with the Global Material Compliance Manager.
  • Lead audit and risk assessment activities for suppliers, driving performance improvements through supplier development initiatives.
  • Manage project progress using project management tools, ensuring shortened lead times and the effective completion of key milestones.
  • Conduct compliance audits and provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders, leading campaigns for non-responding suppliers.
  • Act as a key change agent, influencing and motivating teams across regions to align with global compliance objectives.
  • Stay updated on evolving regulations to ensure that the company’s compliance processes remain ahead of global legal requirements.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Technology, Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, etc.).
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Material Compliance with demonstrated expertise in RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, EU WFD, Prop 65, and TSCA regulations.
  • Proven track record of leading material compliance activities for global organizations, managing complex supplier ecosystems, and driving compliance initiatives across multiple regions.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across global teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI) and project management tools.
  • Background in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to liaise with diverse teams and senior management.
  • Ability to work independently with strong customer focus and result-oriented mindset.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel as required, based on project needs.

Language:

  • Proficiency in English (Written/Spoken) is essential. Knowledge of local/regional languages is an advantage.
