The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for Assuring the quality of processes and products from suppliers meet Beckman requirements.  Working with Production and Suppliers to analyze/manage/understand issues, and problem solve to define corrective actions.  Addressing supplier NC's and SCN's.  Reviewing and approving Component qualification reports.

This position reports to the Manager – Supplier Development and is part of the Quality Organization located in Indianapolis and will be an on-site role.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the resolution of problems involving the integration of suppliers’ products and services into Beckman’s manufacturing processes. Drive Root Cause Investigation and Corrective Actions with Suppliers
  • Investigate and analyze technical issues relating to quality, tooling and supplier manufacturing based on considerable prior experience
  • Provide technical consultation to internal and external suppliers for the selection of manufacturing processes.  Act as the Subject Matter Expert related to the assigned commodity(s)
  • Review validation reports and/or first article submissions for new supplied components.
  • Support Production with rapid communication and resolution of supplier related issues

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, primarily focused on the design, manufacturing, and quality of component parts
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a minimum)

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to travel – Up to 25%

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with techniques such as 5 why's, 8D, pareto analysis, Design of Experiments, DMAIC, and others.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and complete projects
  • Works well with others and is able to coordinate efforts with own and other departments
  • Ability to read and interpret design prints.
