Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Supplier Quality Engineer.  This role operates at a professional level to ensure that components and products are consistently manufactured in full compliance with specified requirements. This role applies to technical knowledge and a solid understanding of product and process engineering. It focuses on improving supplier operations to reduce lead times, inventory levels, PPM, total cost, and enhance manufacturing systems. 

Key responsibilities

• Define and monitor corrective and preventive actions to reduce supplier rejections.
• Establish inspection characteristics and methods based on specifications for incoming materials.
• Develop and follow up on supplier improvement programs.
• Conduct on-site evaluations and support visits to suppliers to enhance performance and meet company objectives in Quality, Cost, and Responsiveness. Activities include control plan audits, product audits, and resolution of issues found at BW plants or customer sites related to supplier manufacturing problems.
• Participate in PTR approval within the PPAP process with suppliers.
• Review supplier component designs to ensure compliance with specified tolerances.
• Verify on-site process capability and EPC implementation.
• Manage the supplier improvement system.
• Evaluate supplier machinery and equipment to determine repair or replacement needs.
• Generate supplier quality claims and follow up on closure through 8D methodology.
• Develop plans for line specifications and capacity as needed. Ensure component specifications match engineering drawings.
• Support supplier evaluation procedures.

What we’re looking for

• Schooling: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or related.
• Experience Time in similar position: Minimum of 2 years in a similar position.
• Technical knowledge required: Quality and environmental systems, manufacturing processes, statistical methods, supplier quality system management, quality audits. 
• Other requirements: APQP, PPAP, VDA 6.3 (preferred), Microsoft Office, SAP, statistical tools
