As our Supplier Quality Engineer in Olathe, KS, you are responsible for quality assurance of all purchased material used in the Olathe assembly facility. You will manage all quality-related communication between Olathe and suppliers to the factory. The position is critical for ensuring the delivery of quality components from established suppliers and developing new suppliers to meet Olathe factory quality requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Assurance

  • Provide supplier quality planning support for new product development
  • Define quality risk level and Advanced Part Quality Planning requirement for new parts
  • Drive supplier APQP process and approve resulting PPAP
  • Report supplier quality planning updates and issues to project management
  • Contribute in project meetings, drawing reviews, engineering and manufacturing pilots

Supplier Qualification & Development

  • Support Sourcing in supplier selection, assessment, approval, and quality improvement
  • Educate suppliers in Husqvarna quality assurance expectations and best practices
  • Perform Full Supplier Quality Audits and follow up with corrective actions

Quality Deviations

  • Manage disposition and cost recovery for non-conforming material from suppliers
  • Work with Quality Control to determine fault classification and escalation levels
  • Work with Quality Control to develop incoming material inspection plans
  • Drive supplier root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D) and validate results
  • Report monthly reject rate (PPM) and quality issues to the Global SQE Manager

Continuous Improvement

  • Provide supplier quality planning support in the Product Improvement arena
  • Facilitate component design improvements for improved quality and manufacturability
  • Analyze and mitigate supplier quality risks through preventive actions

CRITICAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office software and applications.
  • Solid knowledge in supplier quality assurance processes.
  • Solid knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Working knowledge of measurement systems and tools.
  • Working knowledge of assembly procedures and tools.
  • Working knowledge of machinery function and operation.
  • Working knowledge of quality auditing practices and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years' working experience in manufacturing or purchasing.
  • Certified Supplier Quality Professional (ASQ) preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Variety of manufacturing environments.
  • Up to 20% travel (mainly local within 3 hrs. and some domestic.)
