The Supplier Quality Engineer will be required to:

  • Teamwork: Collaborate with suppliers, design engineers and product management personnel to ensure delivered quality of supplied hydraulic components and systems meet or exceed requirements.
  • Critical Thinking: Analyze supplier quality audit and scorecard data to drive solutions to improve supplier performance. 
  • Communication: Present findings and conclusions to suppliers, customers and HYDAC senior leadership team with a clear, concise, persuasive approach.

You will make an impact in this role by:

  • Evaluation, assessment, and quality auditing of new suppliers.
  • Support cross-functional teams to help identify and develop supplier quality programs in accordance with defined purchasing strategies.
  • Support internal supplier quality program development initiatives as needed to reach strategic growth objectives.
  • Evaluation and approval of supplier PPAPs.
  • On-site and virtual evaluation of supplier quality programs including quality management systems and APQP toolset utilization (Flow Map, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, and SPC).
  • Work with project teams to collect supplier requirements for PPAP packages and resolve any quality-related internal or external discrepancies with the supplier or internal business partners.
  • Work with purchasing and suppliers to resolve incoming material non-conformances and ensure proper supplier scorecard resolution.
  • Drive supplier 8D problem solving methods for continuous process improvement and reduction of defects including both 0-hr PPM and field warranty claims.
  • Interact with purchasing and engineering to provide timely response to supplier corrective action, PPAP, and engineering change / deviation requests.
  • Evaluation of SPC related to control of key characteristics.

Requirements

To be considered for the Supplier Quality Engineer role, you must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time (including international)
  • BS degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics.
  • Familiarity with APQP methodology and implementation.
  • Experience with leading continuous improvement projects.

Preferences

  • 3 or more years of on-site supplier quality engineering experience
  • Understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts a plus.
  • Internal auditor experience is a plus.
