Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description

Position Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that all suppliers—especially Contract Manufacturers (CMs)—consistently meet the company’s quality, reliability, and compliance expectations. This role oversees supplier performance, conducts audits, resolves quality issues, and drives continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Oversight

  • Uphold quality expectations and ensure all suppliers—including CMs—meet drawing, specification, and process requirements.

  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure components and assemblies are ready for production and meet all technical requirements.

  • Establish and maintain a qualified and reliable supplier base to support ongoing business needs.

Supplier Audits & Compliance

  • Plan, conduct, and document supplier process audits, system audits, and product audits to verify compliance with quality and operational standards.

  • Monitor CM process controls, calibration practices, incoming inspection processes, and manufacturing consistency.

  • Drive corrective and preventive actions based on audit findings, tracking closure and effectiveness.

Quality Issue Resolution

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action (CAPA) activities for supplier-related issues to ensure timely resolution.

  • Support MRB activities and supplier containment actions for non-conforming materials.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve supplier technical issues and ensure uninterrupted production.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Support

  • Qualify new suppliers and new components for NPI builds.

  • Review PPAP/FAI submissions to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.

  • Support sample builds, supplier readiness reviews, and ramp-up activities at CMs.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Systems

  • Drive supplier continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process capability, reduce defects, and improve yield performance.

  • Develop, update, and implement quality procedures, work instructions, and engineering standards related to supplier quality management.

  • Support performance monitoring using KPIs such as defect rate, audit scores, and document compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • 5–7 years of supplier quality experience in semiconductor, high-tech, or advanced manufacturing environments.

  • Hands-on experience with supplier audits, PPAP/FAI, RCA/CAPA, SPC, and control plan methodologies.

  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

  • Ability to travel to supplier facilities (up to ~30%).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working directly with Contract Manufacturers in mechanical/electromechanical assembly environments.

  • Knowledge of ISO9001, IATF16949, or equivalent quality management systems.

  • Experience in Lean/6σ methodologies.

  • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.

Salary Ranges

NT$1,131,599.57 TWD to NT$1,530,987.65 TWD
