JOB DESCRIPTION
Process
Basic Function: The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining plant specific engineering documentation and records to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and the delivery of product to the Customer which meets specifications.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain an up-to-date reference to track SMRR, RMA, PPM, & SCB and other proposed product revisions.
- Utilize IRIS to track SMRRs
- Prepare End-of-Month Loop zero Report.
- Validate PPAP submission from Supplier. Interact with vendors to complete their PPAP submissions. Coordinate with Materials and Production departments to ensure effective, on-time, implementation of engineering changes.
- Champion and Monitor Supplier key deliverables per control plan.
- Ensure Quality Alerts posted per supplier / customer concerns
- Coordinate containment of defects per supplier / customer defects
- Attend SDT meetings and react to concerns and requirements.
- Understand full build processes to provide quality engineering support.
- Review and react to daily Production Report.
- Follow through with supplier processing of changes to implement changes according to plan.
- Verifying product compliance by utilizing various measurement tools, reading and interpret drawings
- Champion the development and maintenance of Control Plans, PFMEA's and other quality documents as required.
- Coordinate the engineering build of development samples to verify proposed changes.
- Assist with the training of the Quality Technicians.
- Provide leadership in troubleshooting, to analyze a timely resolution to material and/or any internal problem which may cause an interruption of product delivery to our Customers.
- Monitor assembly operations to determine compliance with statistical process control requirements to maintain the process within control limits.
- Reporting accidents, occupational illnesses, and HSE&E emergencies, and inform supervisors of known HSE&E conditions which could adversely affect other team members, assets or to the public.
- Ensures compliance with all safety procedures and ensures safe working procedures in assigned production areas.
- Ensures Safety Alerts/Awareness items are communicated throughout the Quality Team
- Has the responsibility and authority to stop production in the event of a quality or safety issue
- Performs other duties deemed necessary by the Quality Manager.
- Reviews and understands the Customer Specific Requirements.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Quality Manager.
Education Required:
Degree in Engineering or equivalent quality related experience and/ or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
ASQ CQM/CQE/CQT certification preferred.
Experience Required:
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance with emphasis on supplying the automotive industry.
Familiar with IATF 16949 & ISO 9001, BOS Standards
Statistical Quality Control knowledge a plus.

- Three to five years of Quality Assurance experience, emphasis on automotive suppliers
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 and BOS Standards
- Experience validating PPAP submissions and interacting with suppliers
- Experience developing/maintaining Control Plans and PFMEAs
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use measurement tools
- Experience using IRIS to track supplier metrics (SMRR)
- Statistical Quality Control knowledge
- ASQ CQM/CQE/CQT certification
