Job Description
Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) III interfaces with development and supplier engineering to provide materials and components for company product manufacturing. Communicates product specifications to suppliers and assesses supplier's ability to meet engineering and quality requirements. Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness. Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs Quality and Process audits at suppliers to ensure quality systems and manufacturing processes are aligned with requirements for procured material
- Serves as lead approver and developer for Supplier Quality plans
- Participates in drawing reviews to ensure suppliers are provided know-how and understand requirements to assure successful product realization
- Participate in developing and/or review of PFMEA's, control plans, inspection plans and test plans to ensure adequate controls on production are in place to ensure seamless integration of purchased products into production
- Works as a member of team to realize cost reductions, product introductions and quality improvements
- Consistently demonstrates knowledge of the use of quality improvements methodology such as SPC, Six Sigma, Poka-yoke, lean manufacturing and is skilled at reading and understanding engineering drawings/specifications and GD&T
- Participates in Product Readiness Reviews (PRR), coordinates Final Inspection (sell-off) activities and functions as primary interface for DCMA/internal auditing
- Demonstrates concise, clear and effective written & verbal communication skills to a diverse audience, including appropriate and professional interaction with external customers
- Demonstrates a full understanding of Supplier Quality Engineering and resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways while applying company policies and procedures
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5 - 8 years of equivalent experience in a progressive technical capacity in engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of PPAP, APQP, SPC, quality systems AS9100, including supplier audit and evaluation techniques
- Demonstrates strong proficiency using MS Office Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel) and the ability to lead effective meetings

Physical Demands

The salary range for this role is:
$89,630 - $127,050
