Job Description Summary:
The Supplier Operations Specialist position at Avnet entails overseeing purchasing activities, order management, and decision making to reduce risk and optimize inventory, while aligning procurement activities with business strategies and financial objectives.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Backlog Management
- Analyze the data from both the supplier side and our system to assess whether adjustments are necessary.
- Communicate with the purchasing specialist about any discrepancies (dates, quantities, prices, etc.) as needed and resolve them to align both the supplier's backlog and our backlog.
- Past Due & No Commit Orders
- Communicate with suppliers about delinquent purchase orders and request updated information.
- Maintain the system aligned with the latest delivery dates provided by suppliers. Work proactively to obtain waybill information before it becomes past due. Escalate with supervisor if there is a lack of response.
- Review the established frequencies for the orders that have not been confirmed by MFG and update them in our system. If the established time for a response has passed, escalate the situation to get a commit date.
- MRP Actions (Pull ins, push outs, cancellations).
- Analyze and execute the MRP alerts in the established frequency.
- Evaluate the actions using the supplier's rules or other guidelines provided by leadership.
- Additional activities.
- Perform additional activities established in each MFG safe passage. Including PRNs, delivery unit changes, NCNR processes, etc.
- Collaboration calls.
- Set up meetings with the materials team (SOS, MSA, MS) to review open issues for our suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Level Specifications:
- o Foundational knowledge of specialized disciplines, industry practices and standards, acquired via academic instruction and/or relevant work experience of substantially the same level.
- o Develops solutions to defined tasks, typical assignments and projects. May be solved by the application of specialized foundational knowledge, using existing approaches and solutions.
- o Work is usually performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. Receives initial direction although work may be reviewed for accuracy and quality.
- o Collaborates with immediate management and team members within the department or function.
- o Actions typically affect one's own work assignments and departments. Erroneous decisions or failure to accomplish work may require some assistance or resources to remedy.
Work Experience:
- Typically less than 2 years with bachelor's or equivalent.
Education and Certification(s):
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
- Skills: Problem solving, proactivity, analytical skills, communication skills.
- Languages: English
- Software: Excel & SAP
