Our Sarnia facility is growing! We are seeking an experienced Supervisor to join our leadership team to successfully achieve our production goals.

Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. The fleet has grown to include more than 30,500 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 25 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.

Our vision is to be the North American leader in delivering value-creating railcar repair solutions, and it is our team of innovative and talented employees that drives our success.  In pursuit of this journey, Procor is currently seeking a Weld Shop Supervisor for our repair facility in Sarnia, Ontario.

As Supervisor, you will report directly to the Assistant Plant Manager and will ensure the efficient and effective management of the facility’s welding operation in accordance with Procor’s standards, the AAR, Transport Canada, and DOT regulations.

Primary Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Supervise hourly employee teams.
  • Provide weld technique training to hourly staff.
  • Motivate and holds team accountable for performance and time standards.
  • Act as facility’s subject matter expert for the performance of railcar repair.
  • Resolve complex repair questions/issues for hourly and management teams.
  • Organize an hourly workforce and assign work orders to repair teams to ensure the most efficient execution of railcar repairs.
  • Determine and communicate which teams/individuals will be executing specific car repairs including work type and location.
  • Responsible for hourly workforce adherence to EHS standards, policies and practices.
  • Provide labour cost estimates for non-standard activities.
  • Establish and maintain a work environment and workforce culture that encourages and recognizes active employee participation, ownership and diversity. Ensure positive employee morale.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, training and activities to help maintain a safe and productive work environment and ensure high quality/compliant and efficient work completion that meet customer expectations.
  • Act as first line for hourly conflict and general issue resolution.
  • Monitor and manage overall team behaviour and deliver coaching and/or discipline within standard guidelines.
  • Escalate broader or complex behaviour/performance issues to plant manager.
  • Work closely with office staff and management to coordinate work tasks, define, and drive toward team and facility goals. Help make the workplace and process improvements and recognize the contributions of others.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on welding training experience.
  • Proven safety performance record.
  • Union relations experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and relationship-building abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to quality.
  • Proven ability to achieve results.
  • Experience / working knowledge of railcar repair techniques and procedures, car construction, welding techniques, AAR and DOT rules and regulations would be considered a strong asset.

Pay Range:

74,925.00 - 91,575.00
